Կարմիր բազուկը պարունակում է եզակի նյութ՝ բեթաին, որն օրգանիզմի նյութափոխանակությունը լավացնող հատկություն ունի։
Բազուկի մեջ պարունակվող կալիումը և կալցիումը բարերար են ազդում սրտի աշխատանքի վրա։ Բազուկի ամենակարևոր հատկանիշն այն է, որ նույնիսկ երկար ժամանակ պահելու ընթացքում բազուկը պահպանում է իր օգտակար հատկությունները:
Բազուկի հյութն ունի նաև հակացուցումներ։ Հյութաքամիչով անցկացնելուց հետո այն չի կարելի անմիջապես խմել (կառաջացնի սրտխառնոց, նույնիսկ` փսխում), պետք է որոշ ժամանակ սառնարանի մեջ պահել և հետո խմել` վրան որոշ քանակությամբ ջուր ավելացնելով։
Բացի այդ, բազուկի հյութը չի կարելի խմել ստամոքսի լորձաթաղանթի բորբոքման, ստամոքսի խոցի, շաքարային դիաբետի դեպքում:
