Նոր Զելանդիայի եւ Շվեդիայի բժիշկների կատարած հետազոտությունը ի հայտ Է բերել համահարաբերակցությունը (կոռելյացիա) աղջիկների ծնվելու հաջորդականության եւ նրանց մարմնի զանգվածի ինդեքսի (ՄԶԻ) միջեւ: Ավագ քույրեր ունեցող կանայք ավելի քիչ են հակված գիրության եւ կարող են ավելի առողջ սերունդ տալ: Հեղինակները հետազոտության արդյունքները հրապ արակել են Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health հանդեսում, իսկ համառոտ դրանց կարելի Է ծանոթանալ New Scientist կայքում, տեղեկացնում Է «Արմենպրես»-ը:
Իրենց աշխատանքում գիտնականների դիտարկել են համահարաբերակցությունը աղջիկների ծնվելու հաջորդականության եւ նրանց ՄԶԻ միջեւ: Վերջինս որոշվում Է մարմնի երկարության քառակուսու (մետրերով) նկատմամբ մարմինի զանգվածի (կիլոգրամներով) հարաբերությամբ եւ թույլ Է տալիս որոշել ավելորդ քաշի առկայությունը: Օրինակ՝ մարմնի 67 կիլոգրամ քաշի եւ 1,7 մետր հասակի դեպքում ՄԶԻ-ն հավասար Է 23-ի:
Ընդամենը գիտնականները վերլուծել են 13 հազարից ավելի զույգ քույրերի բժշկական տվյալները, որոնք Շվեդիայում տարբեր տարիների ծնվել են 1991-ից մինչեւ 2009 թվականներն ընկած ժամանակաշրջանում: Հետազոտության հեղինակները եկել են այն եզրակացության, որ ավագ քույրերը 25 տարեկան դառնալուց հետո այն բանի մոտավորապես 30 տոկոսով ավելի մեծ հավանականություն ունեն, որ նրանց ՄԶԻ-ն ավելի բարձր կլինի, քան կրտսեր ազգականուհիների մոտ (երբ վերջիններս նույնպես հասած կլինեն այդ տարիքին):
Գիտնականները նման արդյունքը բացատրել են նրանով, որ առաջին անգամ հղի կանանց արգանդի արյունատար անոթներն ավելի թույլ ու բարակ են լինում, քան երկրորդ անգամ ծննդաբերողի մոտ, ինչի կապակցությամբ պտուղն ավելի քիչ սննդարար նյութեր Է ստանում: Առաջնեկ աղջիկն ավելի թեթեւ քաշով Է ծնվում, քան նրա ապագա կրտսեր քույրը, բայց հետագայում դա փոխհատուցվում Է ավելի մեծ քանակությամբ սննդի օգտագործմամբ:
Բժիշկները չեն բացառում սոցիալական գործոնների ազդեցությունը ՄԶԻ-ի վրա, որոնք դրսեւորվում են կերակրի համար մրցակցությամբ կամ, մասնավորապես, երկրորդ երեխայի վրա ավելի քիչ ծախսերով (առաջինի համեմատությամբ): Տղամարդկանց համար, ինչպես ցույց են տվել մյուս հետազոտությունները, ՄԶԻ-ի եւ հաջորդականության միջեւ կախվածությունը նման Է: Այսպես, կրտսեր եղբայրներն ավելի ցածր ՄԶԻ ունեն եւ նրանց մկանունքը ավելի զարգացած Է:
Այլ հետազոտություններ ցույց են տվել, որ առաջնեկները (տղամարդիկ եւ կանայք) ավելի բարձրահասակ են եւ ինտելեկտի ավելի բարձր գործակից ունեն, բայց զգալիորեն ավելի հաճախ են տառապում ալերգիայից: Գիտնականները նշում են, որ իրենց հետազոտություններն օգտակար են ազգային առողջարարական ծրագրերի պլանավորման համար:
