Ազգային ժողովի պատգամավորները և աշխատակազմը հարգանքի տուրք մատուցեցին 1999թ. հոկտեմբերի 27-ի ոճրագործության զոհերի հիշատակին: Պատգամավորները և ԱԺ աշխատակազմի ներկայացուցիչները ծաղիկներ դրեցին խորհրդարանի բակում հոկտեմբերի 27-ի զոհերի հիշատակը հավերժացնող հուշարձանին:

Լրագրողների հետ զրույցում ՀՀ ԱԺ փոխնախագահ Էդուարդ Շարմազանովն ընդգծեց, որ հոկտեմբերի 27-ը Հայաստանի անկախության պատմության ամենամեծ ոճիրն էր, ահաբեկչություն, որին զոհ գնացին պետության երևելի դեմքեր՝ սպարապետ Վազգեն Սարգսյանը և Ազգային ժողովի նախագահ Կարեն Դեմիրճյանը: «Մեզ համար դա կրկնակի ցավ էր, որովհետև մենք կորցրեցինք մեր կուսակցության առաջնորդին՝ սպարապետ Վազգենին: Հանցագործները, այդ ոճիրը իրականացնողները ձերբակալված են, մնացած առումներով ոչինչ չեմ կարող ասել, որովհետև չեմ տիրապետում ամբողջական տեղեկատվության: Փաստն այն է, որ ոճրագործ Հունանյանը իր դաշնակիցներով գտնվում է ազատազրկման վայրում»,- «Արմենպրես»-ի հաղորդմամբ՝ նշեց Շարմազանովը:

Անդրադառնալով հոկտեմբերի 27-ի ոճրագործության հետևանքներին՝ ԱԺ փոխնախագահն ընդգծեց, որ հետևանքները շատ ծանր են եղել պետության համար: «Եթե նրանք լինեին, մենք մի քանի քայլ առաջ կլինեինք: Ես դեմ եմ, որ ասում են անփոխարինելի մարդիկ չկան, անհատները դեր չեն խաղում: Դա սովետական մտածելակերպ է:  Վազգեն Սարգսյանը, նաև Կարեն Դեմիրճյանն անփոխարինելի են: Մեր գործն էլ այսօր պետք է լինի հնարավորինս քայլեր կատարել դեպի նրանց երազանքների Հայաստանին մոտենալը»,- ասաց Շարմազանովը:

Նա ցավով նշեց, որ այդ ահաբեկչությունից 17 տարի անց Երևանում գրեթե նմանատիպ դեպք տեղի ունեցավ, երբ հայը որոշեց հայի վրա ձեռք բարձրացնել: Նրա խոսքով՝ հոկտեմբերի 27-ի գլխավոր դասը պետք է դա լիներ, որ զենքով, նման ձևով հարցեր չեն լուծում: «Ինչքան էլ դժվար լինի, ինչքան էլ խնդիրներ լինեն, ինչքան էլ մեկս մյուսի հետ լեզու չգտնենք, պետք է կարողանանք ընդհանուր լեզու գտնել և բոլոր հարցերը քննարկել կլոր սեղանի շուրջ: Սա առաջին հերթին իշխանությանն է վերաբերում, որովհետև գլխավոր պատասխանատուն իշխանությունն է»,- եզրափակեց Շարմազանովը:

Ազգային ժողովի ՀԱԿ խմբակցության պատգամավոր Ստեփան Դեմիրճյանն էլ նշեց, որ հոկտեմբերի 27-ը նորանկախ Հայաստանի պատմության ամենացավոտ էջերից մեկն է,որի հետևանքները մինչ օրս հաղթահարված չեն: «Ես համոզված եմ, որ մենք այսօր այլ Հայաստանում կապրեինք, եթե այդ սարսափելի ոճրագործությունը տեղի ունեցած չլիներ»,- ասաց Դեմիրճյանը:

Ազգային ժողովի նախագահ Գալուստ Սահակյանը, ով 1999թ. հոկտեմբերի 27-ին խորհրդարանի նիստերի դահլիճում է եղել, պատմեց, որ առաջին պահին բոլորին թվացել է, թե ինչ-որ մեկն ուղղակի հումոր է անում, բայց մի քանի րոպե հետո եղավ այն, ինչի մասին բոլորը գիտեն: «Այս ողբերգությունը մեր պետության, մեր ազգի համար շատ ծանր էր»,- նշեց ԱԺ նախագահը: Անդրադառնալով կարծիքին, թե հոկտեմբերի 27-ը մինչ օրս չի բացահայտվել՝ ԱԺ նախագահն ընդգծեց, որ բոլոր իրականացնողները ձերբակալված են և գտնվում են ազատազրկման վայրում:

Ազգային ժողովի պատգամավորները նիստերի դահլիճում քառօրյա նիստի չորրորդ օրվա աշխատանքները սկսելուց առաջ ևս մեկ րոպե լռությամբ հարգեցին 1999թ. հոկտեմբերի 27-ի ոճրագործության զոհերի հիշատակը: 1999թ. հոկտեմբերի 27-ին ՀՀ ԱԺ-ում կատարված ոճրագործությանը զոհ գնացին ԱԺ նախագահ Կարեն Դեմիրճյանը, վարչապետ Վազգեն Սարգսյանը, Ազգային ժողովի փոխնախագահներ Յուրի Բախշյանն ու Ռուբեն Միրոյանը, օպերատիվ հարցերով նախարար Լեոնիդ Պետրոսյանը, պատգամավորներ Արմենակ Արմենակյանը, Հենրիկ Աբրահամյանը և Միքայել Քոթանյանը:
