Բնակիչների մեծ մասի պատկերացմամբ` առևտրի կենտրոնը մի վայր է, ուր գնում են շաբաթը մեկ անգամ և գնումներ են կատարում`խուսափելով մարդկանց ամբոխից և շտապում են վերադառնալ տուն: Սակայն առևտրի կենտրոնների որոշ սեփականատերեր այդպիսի պատկերացումների հետ համաձայն չեն և իրենց սումերմարկետները դարձնում են զվարճանքի մեծ կենտրոններ, որտեղ առևտրին հատկացված է մի փոքր, սակայն կարևոր մաս:

Դուբայում տեղակայված Իբն Բատտուտա Մոլը, որն անվանել են հայտնի արաբ ճանապարհորդի պատվին, հեռվից ավելի շատ նմանվում է հեքիաթային աշխարհի: Առևտրի կենտրոնի դահլիճները վերակենդանացնում են միջնադարյան քաղաքների և երկրների ինտերիերը: Գնումներ կատարելով կարելի է անցնել Իբն Բատտուտի ճանաարհը Թունիսից մինչև Իսրայել և Չինաստանից մինչև Մալի:
Ալբերտայում գտնվող West Edmonton Mall-ն իր մեծությամբ համարվում է հինգերորդն աշխարհում: Այստեղ կարելի է օգտվել զվարճահարմարանքներից, ժամանակ անցկացնել կազինոյում կամ գնալ մատուռ: Առևտրի կենտրոնի դահլիճում տեղադրված է Քրիստափոր Կոլումբուսի նավը, որով ծովագնացն անցել է Ատլանտյան օվկիանոսը 1492 թվականին:
