Բելգիայի Սենատի նախագահ Քրիստին Դըֆրեյնը Բելգիայում Հայոց ցեղասպանության ժխտումը քրեականացնելու անհրաժեշտություն է տեսնում: ՀՀ Ազգային ժողովի նախագահ Գալուստ Սահակյանի հետ հանդիպումից հետո լրագրողների հետ հանդիպմանը Բելգիայի Սենատի նախագահը նշեց, որ Բելգիայի խորհրդարանը եվրոպական խորհրդարանների մեջ առաջիններից մեկն էր, որ 1998թ. ընդունեց Հայոց ցեղասպանությունը դատապարտող ո ւժեղ մի բանաձև: «Եվ մենք նույնիսկ քայլեր արեցինք ավելի առաջ գնալու և Ցեղասպանության ժխտման համար քրեական պատասխանատվություն սահմանելու: Մենք բավականին վաղ սկսեցինք աշխատել այդ ուղղությամբ: Հայոց ցեղասպանության ժխտումը պետք է գնահատվի որպես հանցագործություն: Այն ժամանակ մենք չհասանք մեր նպատակին, բայց ես կարծում եմ, որ Բելգիայի տարբեր մակարդակի խորհրդարանների կողմից Հայոց ցեղասպանությունը դատապարտող բանաձևի ընդունմամբ մենք կհասնենք մեր նպատակի իրագործմանը»,- «Արմենպրես»-ի հաղորդմամբ՝ ասաց Դըֆրեյնը:

Նա հավելեց, որ խոսքն այն մասին չէ, որ խորհրդարաններն են թելադրելու պատմությունը, այլ ուղղակի անհրաժեշտ է պատմությունը փոխանցել նոր սերունդներին, որպեսզի մեկընդմիշտ դատապարտվեն ցեղասպանության բոլոր ակտերը: «Մեր երկրները պետք է գնան դեպի ապագա: Ես կարծում եմ, որ մեր ժողովուրդները ունեն միանման արժեքներ, և ես կարծում եմ, որ մենք միասին կարող ենք շարունակել այդ ճանապարհը»,- հավելեց Բելգիայի Սենատի նախագահը:

Քրիսատին Դըֆրեյնը նշեց, որ Եվրոպայի դռները Հայաստանի առաջ միշտ բաց են: «Մենք հասկանում ենք, որ Հայաստանը գտնվում է բարդ աշխարհաքաղաքական դիրքում, սակայն պետք է ասեմ, որ Եվրոպայի դռները միշտ բաց են բանակցությունների, ցանկացած ոլորտում աշխատանքի և միասնական զարգացման համար: Բելգիան ջանքեր չի խնայելու`սատարել Հայաստանին իր որոշումների մեջ»,- եզրափակեց նա:
