Կեյսի Ֆիշերի համար սովորական օր էր: Երիտասարդ ուսանող մայրիկը գնացել էր ամենամոտ ռեստորան ինչ-որ բան ուտելու: Նա ռեստորանի մուտքից ոչ հեռու նկատեց գետնին նստած մի անտուն տղամարդու: Քիչ հետո այդ մարդը մտավ ռեստորան՝ հույս ունենալով, որ հաճախորդներից մեկն իրեն ինչ-որ բան կհյուրասիրի:

Տղամարդը, բնականաբար, գումար չուներ: Եթե չլիներ Կեյսիի օգնությունը, նա այդպես էլ, առանց որևէ բան ուտելու, կհեռանար ռեստորանից:

Բայց, աղջկա միջամտությունը փոխեց իրավիճակը: Գնելով ուտելիք և տաք թեյ այդ տղամարդու համար՝ երիտասարդ մայրիկը որոշեց խոսել նրա հետ: Աղջիկը նույնիսկ չէր էլ կռահում, որ այդ խոսակցությունը շատ կարևոր կլինի այդ տղամարդու համար:

Մի քանի ժամ նրա հետ զրուցելուց հետո Կեյսին իմացավ այդ տղամարդու կյանքի պատմությունը: Նրա անունը Կրիս էր: Նա երբեք հայր չէր ունեցել, իսկ մայրը վերջերս էր մահացել քաղցկեղից: Այդ ամենին չդիմանալով՝ տղան սկսել էր թմրանյութեր օգտագործել: Շուտով նա մերժվեց հասարակության կողմից, բոլորը նրան հալածում էին:

Շուտով Կեյսին ստիպված էր արդեն գնալ: Տղայից ներեղություն խնդրելով՝ նա ոտքի կանգնեց, բայց Կրիսը խնդրեց նրան սպասել մի քանի վայրկյան: Մի քանի բառ խզբզելով կտրոնի վրա՝ տղան ներողություն խնդրեց վատ ձեռագրի համար, հրաժեշտ տվեց աղջկան և հեռացավ սրահից:

Ավելի ուշ աղջիկը կարդաց գրությունը և հասկացավ, թե որքան ճակատագրական է եղել այդ հանդիպումը:

«Այսօր ես ուզում էի վերջ տալ իմ կյանքին: Այժմ, քո շնորհիվ, արդեն ոչ: Շնորհակալություն, հիանալի մարդ»:

    

 Մտերմիկ զրույցը մանրուք է թվում, բայց եթե դա չլիներ, Կրիսը այլևս ողջ չէր լինի: Իսկ այժմ, ով գիտի, միգուցե տղան իր մեջ ուժ կգտնի և կհրաժարվի այդ վատ կախվածությունից և նոր կյանք կսկսի:
