Ժամանակակից նորաձևությունը կարելի է համեմատել չարաճճի դեռահասի հետ՝ այն չի ցանկանում լինել համեստ և նուրբ ու անդադար ճչում է իր յուրահատկությունների մասին: Այդ իսկ պատճառով նորաձևության յուրաքանչյուր ճիչի հետևելն ուղղակի անհնար է: Իրականում հարկավոր էլ չէ. ով գիտի, թե վաղը որ տարօրինակությունը կարող է նորաձև համարվել:
Հին Հունաստանում երկու, իրարից առանձին հոնքեր ունեցող կինը տգեղության նշան էր համարվում: Եթե կինը ցանկանում էր ուշադրության կենտրոնում լինել, ապա առանց «միանհոնքության» նրա կերպարը լիարժեք չէր լինի: այն աղջիկները, որոնց բախտ չէր վիճակվել միացած հոնքերով ծնվել, ապա նրանք ստիպված էին լինում ամեն հնարավոր կերպով, արհեստականորեն ստեղծել դա: Քթի վերին հատվածին նրանք կամ մուր էին քսում, կամ այծի մազեր էին փակցնում:

Թույն, որը կաթացնում էին աչքերի մեջ
Բելլադոննայի հատապտուղներն իրենց բաղադրության մեջ ներառում են որոշ թունավոր նյութեր, որոնք էլ բացասաբար են ազդում օրգանիզմի վրա: Միջնադարում բելլադոննայի հյութը կանայք կաթացնում էին աչքերի մեջ՝ դրանց հատուկ փայլ հաղորդելու և ավելի արտահայտիչ դարձնելու համար: Այդ հյութով մերսում էին նաև այտերը, որը կարծես կարմրաներկ լիներ դեմքի վրա: Պատկերացրեք, որ կոսմետիկ միջոցների սիրահարները զոհել են իրենց առողջությունն ու տեսողությունը՝ գեղեցկության համար:
Սև ատամներ
Համոզված եմ, որ ոչ ոք ատամի կարիեսը գեղեցիկ չի համարում: Իսկ մեկ հազարամյակ առաջ Ճապոնիայում կանանց՝ կարիեսով պատված ատամները համարվում էին գեղեցիկ ատրիբուտներ: Եթե հանկարծ աղջկա ատամներին կարիես ոչ մի կերպ չէր հայտնվում, նա դիմում էր ծայրահեղ միջոցների. աղջիկը լվանում էր ատամները ջրի, սակեի և տաք երկաթի խառնուրդով, որը դրանք դարձնում էր մուգ սև: Կար ժամանակ, որ սա տարածվեց նաև տղամարդկանց շրջանում, որոնք հրաժարվում էին իրենց ճերմակ ժպիտներից՝ նորաձևությանը հետևելու նպատակով: 1870 թվականից ի վեր այս երևույթը նորաձևության մեջ «անօրինական» դարձավ:

Բոլորս էլ գիտենք, որ որոշ սպիեր տղամարդկանց վրա գեղեցիկ են նայվում: Բայց ոչ այն դեպքում, երբ տղամարդը ինքնազոհության է գնում մի քանի շռամ դեմքին արհեստականորեն ավելացնելու համար: Հենց այսպես էին անում Գերմանիայում՝ XIX դարի վերջին: Շատերը դանակով երեսներին կտրվածքներ էին անում՝ առավել տղամարդկային երևալու համար: Կամ էլ մարտերի ու կռիվների ժամանակ հատուկ թույլ էին տալիս, որ իրենց դեմքին հարվածեն: Դեպք է պատահել, երբ կես տարուց ավելի քիչ ժամանակահատվածում մի տղամադ իր վրա 14 տարբեր սպիեր է արել:
