Արեւելագիտության ինստիտուտի տնօրեն, թուրքագետ Ռուբեն Սաֆրաստյանը նորընտիր Դոնալդ Թրամփի նախագահության ընթացքում ղարաբաղյան հարցի վերաբերյալ ԱՄՆ կողմից որեւէ փոփոխություն չի ակնկալում:

«Լինելով Մինսկի խմբի համանախագահող կողմերից մեկը՝ ԱՄՆ-ն,  ըստ էության, պետք է շարունակի այդ նույն գործունեությունը, իսկ Թրամփի վարչակազմը, բնականաբար, պետք  է որոշակի մոտեցում ունենա ղարաբաղյան խնդրի կարգավորման հարցի շուրջ: Չեմ կարծում, որ Մինսկի խմբի շրջանակում ԱՄՆ-ն մոտ ապագայում որեւէ ակտիվություն կցուցաբերի, հանդես կգա ինքնուրույն նախաձեռնութամբ,  քանի որ նոր վարչակազմին ժամանակ է անհրաժեշտ այդ խնդրին ծանոթանալու համար: Կարծում եմ՝ այս առումով բանակցային գործընթացը կշարունակվի այնպես, ինչպես որ եղել է: Շատ կարեւոր է այն հանգամանքը, որ ամերիկացիները,  կարծես թե, կարեւորում են սահմանամերձ շրջաններում  մշտադիտարկման իրականացման անհրաժեշտությունը»,-«Արմենպրես»-ի հաղորդմամբ՝ ասաց թուրքագետը:

Նրա կարծիքով՝ ԱՄՆ արտաքին քաղաքականության ռազմավարության մեջ Հարավային Կովկասի խնդիրներն այդքան էլ կարեւոր դեր չունեն:

«Թրամփի կողմից նախընտրական պայքարի ընթացքում այդքան էլ ուշադրություն չի հատկացվել Հարավային Կովկասի խնդիրներին, այսինքն՝ կարելի է  ենթադրել, որ նրա խորհրդականները կարեւոր չեն համարում այս տարածաշրջանը ԱՄՆ արտաքին քաղաքականության համար, առաջնային նշանակություն չեն տալիս: Չպետք է մոռանալ նաեւ, որ  Հարավային Կովկասը ներառվեց ԱՄՆ քաղաքականության շրջանակում 90-ականների կեսերին, երբ իշխանության էին դեմոկրատները: Կարծում եմ՝ Թրամփի նախագահության ժամանակ ԱՄՆ քաղաքականությունը Հարավային Կովկասին կանդրադառնա Ռուսաստանի հետ հարա բերությունների համատեքստում»,-եզրափակեց Ռուբեն Սաֆրաստյանը:
