Armenia’s premier RPA member, followed by 7,000 citizens – Eduard Sharmazanov
INTERVIEWArmenia’s Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan applied for membership in the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), Armenian Parliament Vice-Speaker, RPA Spokesman Eduard Sharmazanov told Tert.am.
“Karen Karapetyan is from now on a RPA member. We commend Mr Karapetyan’s step and believe his joining the RPA will give new impetus to and enhance the party’s efficiency and role,” Mr Sharmazanov said.
Mr Karapetyan’s announcement of his RPA membership was followed by numerous citizens’ applications for RPA membership.
“A great number of people are applying for RPA membership after Mr Karapetyan decided to join the party. Since last night, over 7,000 citizens have applied for RPA membership,” Mr Sharmazanov said.
Asked about the reason for so many people applying for RPA membership, he said:
“If the premier announces his membership in the RPA, which follows by 7,000 applications in one day – it means that Mr Karapetyan’s accession to the RPA has had a positive effect on people’s decisions.”
