Մեծ քանակությամբ ընկույզների գործածումը զգալիորեն նվազեցնում Է մի ամբողջ շարք հիվանդությունների զարգացման հավանականությունը. քաղցկեղինը՝ 15 տոկոսով, սրտի հիվանդությանը՝ 30 տոկոսով եւ մահվան ընդհանուր վտանգինը՝ 22 տոկոսով: Այդ մասին, ինչպես տեղեկացնում Է «Արմենպրես»-ը, ասված Է BMC Medicine հանդեսում հրապարակված հոդվածում:

Ընկույզները պարունակում են մեծ քանակությամբ բջջանյութ, մագնեզիում եւ չհագեցած ճարպաթթուներ. այս բոլոր նյութերը նվազեցնում են խոլեստերինը, ուստի եւ օգտակար են սրտի եւ անոթների առողջության համար: 

Որոշ ընկույզներ, առանձնապես հունականը եւ պեկանը, պարունակում են բազմաթիվ հակաօքսիդիչներ, որոնք բջիջներին օգնում են պայքարելու սթրեսի դեմ եւ նվազեցնում են քաղցկեղի զարգացման հավանականությունը: Նաեւ ենթադրվում Է, որ ընկույզները կարող են նվազեցնել ճարպակալման զարգացման հավանականությունը»,- հայտարարել Է Դագֆին Աունը Լոնդոնի Կայսերական քոլեջից (Մեծ Բրիտանիա): 

Աունը եւ նրա գործընկերներն այս եզրակացությանն են հանգել՝ վերլուծելով եւ զուգադրելով երեք տասնյակ այլ գիտական աշխատությունների արդյունքները, որոնց շրջանակներում ուրիշ գիտնականներ կատարել են 20 գիտափորձեր՝ նվիրված տարբեր մթերքների, այդ թվում նաեւ ընկույզների օգտակար հատկությունների ուսումնասիրմանը:

Այդ հետազոտություններին մասնակցել Է Եվրոպայի երկրներում, ԱՄՆ-ում, Ասիայում եւ Ավստրալիայում ապրող գրեթե 820 հազար մարդ, հաղորդել Է ՌԻԱ Նովոստին:
