 «Ավրորա» համաշխարհային մարդասիրական մրցանակը հաստատել է Էռնստո Սեդիլյոյի նշանակումը` որպես 2017թ. «Ավրորա» մրցանակի Ընտրող հանձնաժողովի անդամ: Մեքսիկայի նախկին նախագահը Նյու Յորքում միացել է Ընտրող հանձնաժողովի հարգարժան անդամներին՝ խորհրդակցելու մրցանակի 2017թ. հավակնորդների ընտրության շուրջ: Այս մասին «Արմենպրես»-ին տեղեկացրին IDeA հիմնադրամից:

Լինելով Մեքսիկայի նախագահ՝ Սեդիլյոն երկրում իրականացրել է կարեւոր ժողովրդավարական եւ սոցիալական բարեփոխումներ ու մասնակցել է համաշխարհային հանրությանն սպառնացող մի շարք լուրջ մարտահրավերների լուծմանն ուղղված նախաձեռնություններին: Սեդիլյոն Ֆրանկլին Դ. Ռուզվելտի անվան «Խիզախության մրցանակի» դափնեկիր է (Franklin D. Roosevelt Freedom from Fear Award): 2005-2011թթ. նա գլխավորել է «Գլոբալ զարգացման ցանցը»: Ներկայում նա Յեյլի համալսարանի «Գլոբալիզացիայի ուսումնասիրությունների կենտրոնի» տնօրենն է, որի ուշադրության կենտրոնում միջազգային զար գացման ծրագրեր են:

«Ուրախ եմ ողջունելու նախագահ Սեդիլյոյին «Ավրորա» մրցանակի Ընտրող հանձնաժողովի կազմում: Նա իր մեծ փորձառությամբ անգնահատելի ներդրում կունենա այս ակնառու ժյուրիի կազմում», - ասել է Նյու Յորքի Կարնեգի կորպրացիայի նախագահ, «Ավրորա» մրցանակի համահիմնադիր եւ Ընտրող հանձնաժողովի անդամ Վարդան Գրեգորյանը: «Նախագահ Սեդիլյոյի հեղինակությունը` որպես սոցիալական եւ քաղաքական բարեփոխումների առաջադեմ պաշտպան, ինչպես նաեւ մարդասիրության ոլորտում ճանաչված առաջնորդի համբավը հսկայական ազդեցություն կունենան «Ավրորա» մրց անակի հաջորդ դափնեկրի ընտրության գործում»:

«Ես հպարտ եմ՝ միանալու այս հարգարժան Ընտրող հանձնաժողովին, որի կազմում աշխարհում կարիքավորների խնդիրների համար պայքարող այսպիսի ականավոր պաշտպաններ կան, - ասել է Էռնեստո Սեդիլյոն,- անհամբերությամբ սպասում եմ՝ մեծարելու նրանց, ովքեր վտանգելով իրենց կյանքը, փրկում են այլոց եւ մարմնավորում են այն լավագույնը, որն այսօր մեզ դարձնում է գլոբալ մարդկային համայնք»:

«Ավրորա» մրցանակի Ընտրող հանձնաժողովի կազմում ընդգրկված են ինը հումանիտար գործիչներ աշխարհի տարբեր ծայրերից: Նրանց բացառիկ նվաճումներն անգնահատելի նպաստ են բերում մարդասիրական ջանքերին, որոնք արժանի են համաշխարհային ճանաչման:

Սեդիլյոն միանում է «Ավրորա» մրցանակի գործող Ընտրող հանձնաժողովին, որի կազմում ընդգրկված են Նոբելյան մրցանակի դափնեկիրներ Օսկար Արիասը, Շիրին Էբադին եւ Լեյմա Գբովեն, Իռլանդիայի նախկին նախագահ Մերի Ռոբինսոնը, մարդու իրավունքերի ոլորտում ակտիվիստ Հինա Ջիլանին, Միժազգային ճգնաժամային խմբի պատվավոր նախագահ եւ Ավստրալիայի նախկին վարչապետ Գարեթ Էվանսը, «Ավրորա» մրցանակի համահիմնադիր Վարդան Գրեգորյանը եւ օսկարակիր դերասան ու մարդասեր Ջորջ Քլունին:

Էռնեստո Սեդիլյոն դեկտեմբերի 11-ին Նյու Յորքում պաշտոնապես ծանոթացել է Ընտրող հանձնաժողովի մյուս անդամներին եւ մասնակցել է քննարկմանը, որտեղ «Ավրորա» մրցանակի Ընտրող հանձնաժողովն ուսումնասիրել է եռամսյա առաջադրումների փուլում ներկայացված եւ նախընտրական փուլն անցած բոլոր թեկնածությունները: Ընտրող հանձնաժողովին նաեւ ներկայացվել է 2017թ. «Ավրորա» մրցանակի շնորհման արարողության եւ դրան նախորդող միջոցառումների մանրամասները: 2017թ. «Ավրորա» մրցանակի հավակնորդների անունները կհայտարարվեն ապրիլի 24-ին: Բոլոր հավակնորդները կհրավիրվեն եւ մեծարման կարժանանան 2017թ. մայիսի 28-ին Երեւանում՝ «Ավրորա» մրցանակի շնորհման արարողության ժամանակ:
