  • Օղի անվանումը պաշտոնապես ամրագրվել է 1751 թվականի հունիսի 8-ին` Եղիսաբեթ 2-րդի հրամանով: Նախապես այս խմիչքն անվանում էին «Հացային գինի», «Սամոգոն»: 18-րդ դարում օղին համարվում էր էլիտար խմիչք:
  • Օղու մեկ լիտրը մեկ կիլոգրամ չէ: Օղին ջրից թեթև է, այն կշռում է 953 գրամ և պարունակում է 117 կիլոկալորիա:
  • Մարդու համար մահացու կարող է լինել մեկ լիտր օղին մեկ րոպեում խմելը:
  • 40 տոկոսանոց օղու ստանդարտը Մենդելեևին են վերագրում, սակայն նա չէ: Սպիրտի և օղու միացման մասին դոկտորական դիսերտացիան Մենդելեևը պաշտպանել է 1886 թվին, իսկ ստանդարտը հայտնաբերվել է դրանից շատ ավելի վաղ: Ճիշտ է՝ այդ ժամանակ օղու ստանդարտը 38.3 տոկոս էր, սակայն այն սովորաբար կլորացնում էին մինչև 40 տոկոս:
  • Օղու կարևորագույն հատկանիշը համն է, ավելի ճիշտ` համի բացակայությունը: Իդեալական օղին պետք է համով չտարբերվի ջրից:
  • «Օղու հայրենիք» կոչման համար պայքարում էին Ռուսաստանն ու Լեհաստանը: Տարաձայնությունները 1879-1882 թթ հասան մինչև միջազգային դատական ատյաններ: Դատարանը որոշում կայացրեց հօգուտ Լեհաստանի: Այդուհանդերձ, լեհերը հրաժարվեցին այն ընդունել: Հիմա անգամ ֆրանսերենով երկու տարբերակ է կիրառվում` «Vodka»` ռուսական օղու համար և «Wodka»` լեհականի:

  • Մեզ համար սովորական դարձած օղու ապակե շիշն ի հայտ է եկել 19-րդ դարի վերջին: Այսօրվա տեսքն ստացել է 1894 թվականին և «Հատուկ մոսկովյան» անվանումն էր կրում:

  • Աշխարհի ամենաթունդ օղին շոտլանդական Պինսեր ընկերության արտադրանքն է: 88.8 տոկոսանոց օղին արտադրվում էր հատուկ Չինաստանի համար, քանի որ Չինաստանում 8-ը համարվում է երջանիկ թիվ: Նմանատիպ մեկ շշի գինը մոտ 140 դոլար է:

  • Աշխարհի ամենաթանկ օղին կոչվում է «Դիվա». արտադրվում է Շոտլանդիայում: Պատրաստվելուց հետո խմիչքը զտման բարդ ճանապարհ է անցնում: Օղու շիշը զարդարված է թանկարժեք քարերով: Գինը` կախված շշի չափսից և քարերի որակից, տատանվում է 5-ից 100 հազար դոլարի միջակայքում:

  • Մեծ Բրիտանիայում արտադրվում է աշխարհում միակ սև օղին, որը սովորական օղուց տարբերվում է միայն գույնով:

  • Մոսկվայում գործում է օղուն նվիրված թանգարան: Այնտեղ այցելելով` կարելի է ուսումնասիրել հնագույն այս խմիչքի ողջ պատմությունը:
