Դուք Ձեզ համարում եք ամենահաջողակ մարդը՝ ճանապարհի վրա հինգհազարանոց թղթադրամ գտնելո՞վ: Սխալվում եք: Ուզու՞մ եք համոզվել դրանում: Ահա մի աղջկա պատմություն, որը ողջ է մնացել պատմության երեք խոշորագույն նավաբեկություններից հետո:
Ծանոթացեք, սա Վիոլետ Ջեսոպն է: Դեռ մանուկ ժամանակ նա տառապում էր տուբերկուլյոզով, և բոլոր բժիշկները միաձայն պնդում էին, որ աղջնակը չի ապրի: Սակայն, չնայած բժիշկների վատատեսությանը, Վիոլետը շարունակեց ապրել: 23 տարեկան հասակում նա աշխատանքի անցավ White Star Line տրանսատլանտյան ուղերթներ իրականացնող ընկերությունում՝ որպես ուղեկցորդուհի:
Սկզբում նա աշխատում էր հսկայական նավ «Օլիմպիկի» բորտի վրա: Վերոնշյալ նավը Տիտանիկի զույգն է համարվում: 1911 թ. տեղի ունեցավ սարսափելին. «Օլիմպիկը» բախվեց մի այլ նավի, որի արդյունքում դրա վրա 14 մետրանոց հսկայական անցք առաջացավ: Սակայն, փառք Աստծո, զոհեր չեղան:
Աղջիկը չվախեցավ և շարունակեց աշխատել նույն ընկերությունում: Սկզբում նա չէր ցանկանում ոտք դնել «Տիտանիկի» բորտի վրա, սակայն ընկերները անդադար համոզում էին՝ ասելով, թե դա իսկական պատիվ և շքեղություն է:
Ապրիլի 14-ի լույս 15-ի գիշերը հսկայական նավը խորտակվեց, իսկ Վիոլետն այն բախտավորներից էր, ում հաջողվեց փրկել, և նա մյուս ուղեկցորդուհիների հետ տեղափովեց հ. 16 նավակ: Ավելի ուշ Վիոլետը հուշեր է գրել, որտեղ հետաքրքիր փաստեր է հիշատակել իր փրկության մասին: Հ. 16 նավակ նստելու պահին նրա ձեռքերի մեջ են դրել մի նորածնի՝ վերջինիս փրկության համար: Վիոլետի՝ «Կարպատի»-ի բորտ ոտք դնելու նույն պահին մի կին է մոտեցել նրան, ձեռքից խլել երեխային և առանց որևէ բառ ասելու՝ հեռացել:
Սակայն անգամ այս աղետը չստիպեց Վիոլետին հրաժարվել իր սիրելի աշխատանքից: Առաջին համաշխարհային պատերազմի ժամանակ «Բրիտանիկ» բորտի վրա բուժքույրի ծառայության անցավ: 1916 թ նավը պայթեցվեց գերմանացիների ականից: Մահացությունները հնարավոր եղավ ժամանակին կանխել՝ ջրի մեջ նավակներ իջեցնելով: Սակայն հանկարծակի դժբախտ պատահար տեղի ունեցավ. նավակներին սկսեց ձգել «Բրիտանիկի»՝ դեռ պտտվող շարժիչը: Վիոլետ Ջեսոպը հենց այդ նավակներից մեկի մեջ էր, սակայն նա հասցրեց դուրս թռչել դրա միջից և փրկվել:
Այնուհետև ևս 42 տարի Վիոլետը շարունակեց աշխատել մարդատար նավերում, երկու անգամ էլ շուրջերկրյա նավարկություն անցկացրեց՝ սակայն արդեն ոչ մի աղետի չհանդիպելով: Արտասովոր բախտ ունեցող այս կինը երկար տարիներ ապրեց՝ մահանալով 83 տարեկան հասակում:
