Միլանի քաղաքապետ Ջուզեպե Սալան պաշտոնապես վայր է դրել իշխանական լիազորությունները քանի դեռ չեն պարզաբանվել Expo 2015 Համաշխարհային ցուցահանդեսի կազմակերպման ժամանակաշրջանում չարաշահումների մասին գործին առնչվող հետաքննության հանգամանքները։ Ansa գործակալության  փոխանցմամբ՝  առաջիկա ժամակահատվածում քաղաքապետի պարտականությունները կկատարի քաղաքի պրեֆեկտը։

«Իմ ժամանակավոր հեռացման պատճառներից մեկն այն է, որ անհրաժեշտ է հասկանալ, թե ինչ խախտումների մեջ են ինձ մեղադրում։ Եվ քանի դեռ չի պարզաբանվել, թե ինչի մեջ են ինձ մեղադրում, ես հնարավոր չեմ համարում իմ ստանձնած պարտավորությունները կատարելը»,- ասվում է Սալայի պաշտոնական նամակում, որը մեջբերում է Ansa–ն։

Սալան քաղաքապետ է ընտրվել հունիսին ձախցենտրիստական Դեմոկրատական կուսակցության կողմից՝ հաղթելով իր գլխավոր մրցակից Ստեֆանո Պարիզիին։ Սալայի թեկնածությունն աջակցում էր նախկին վարչապետ Մաթեո Ռենցին։ Քաղաքապետի պաշտոնին Սալան նշանավորվել է նրանով, որ կարգադրել էր Համաշխարհային ցուցահանդեսի տարածքում տեղավորել Իտալիա ժամանող միգրանտներին։

Մինչ այդ նա հինգ տարի եղել է Expo–ի կոմիսար, այդ թվում Expo 2015–ի ժամանակ։ Լրատվամիջոցների տվյալներով նրան կասկածում են գնումների հարցում խաբեությունների, նաեւ ցուցահանդեսին մասնակցող ընկերությունների հետ չհիմնավորված պայմանագրեր կնքելու ու դրանց արժեքը միտումնավոր նվազեցնելու մեջ:

Համաշխարհային ցուցահանդեսն անցել է Միլանում 2015-ի մայիսի 1-ից հոկտեմբերի 31 ժամանակահատվածում։ Դրան մասնակցել են ավելի քան 150 երկրներ, նաեւ խոշորագույն միջազգային կազմակերպություններ ու ընկերություններ։ Ավելի ուշ պարզվել է, որ մաֆիայի հետ կապեր ունեցող ֆիրմաները Expo 2015–ում ստացել են 20 մլն եվրո արժողության պայմանագրեր, հետաքննության արդյունքներով Միլանի դատախազությունը 11 մարդու   մեղադրանք է առաջադրել։ Բացահայտվել են նաեւ կոռուպցիայի ու ապօրինի տենդերների դեպքեր
