Չիլիի իշխանությունները հայտարարել են հզոր երկրաշարժից տուժած Կոկիմբո նահանգում արտակարգ դրության ռեժիմ մտցնելու մասին: Ինչպես տեղեկացնում է «Արմենպրես»-ը, այդ մասին հայտարարել է երկրի ներքին գործերի նախարար Խորխե Բուրգոսը:

«Հանրապետության նախագահը որոշում է ընդունել արտակարգ դրություն հայտարարել Կոկիմբո նահանգի ամբողջ տարածքում»,- Բուրգոսի խոսքը մեջբերել է La Tercera պորտալը:

Նախարարը նշել է, որ Կոկիմբոյում առանց էլեկտրականության է մնում 70 հազար տուն: Արտակարգ դրության ռեժիմի կատարման պատասխանատու է նշանակվել բրիգադային գեներալ Շաֆիկ Լասարոն, որը պետք է որոշի, թե ինչ քանակությամբ զորք է անհրաժեշտ տեղաբաշխել Կոկիմբոյում բնակչությանն օգնություն ցուցաբերելու և կարգուկանոնը պահպանելու համար:

Կոկիմբոյում է գտնվում երկրի նախագահ Միշել Բաչելետը, որը մտադիր է այցելել երկրաշարժից և դրան հաջորդած ալեկոծությունից տուժած բնակավայրերի մեծ մասը:

Լույս սեպտեմբերի 17-ի գիշերը Չիլիում տեղի է ունեցել երկրաշարժ, որի մագնիտուդը, ԱՄՆ-ի երկրաբանական ծառայության տվյալներով, կազմել է 8,3: Ցնցումների Էպիկենտրոնը գտնվել է Իլյապել քաղաքից 54 կիլոմետր հյուսիս-արեւմուտք, մայրաքաղաք Սանտյագոյից' 228 կիլոմետր հյուսիս ընկած շրջանում: Երկրաշարժին հաջորդել է տասնյակ հետցնցումներ: Չիլիի արտակարգ իրավիճակների ազգային ծառայությունը հաղորդել է ցունամիի 4,5-մետրանոց ալիքների մասին, որոնք հարվածել են Կոկիմբո քաղաքին, հաղորդել է ՌԻԱ Նովոստին:
