Հիսուս ասում է իր աշակերտներին.
-Դարձյալ պատվիրում եմ ձեզ, սիրեցե՛ք միմյանց:
Եթե աշխարհը ձեզ ատում է, իմացե՛ք, որ նախ ինձ է ատել:
Եթե այս աշխարհին պատկանած լինեիք, աշխարհը սիրած կլիներ ձեզ, որպես իրենից եղող մեկին: Բայց աշխարհը ձեզ ատում է, որովհետև ես ձեզ զատեցի այս աշխարհից, և դուք այլևս այս աշխարհին չեք պատկանում: Հիշեցե՛ք այն խոսքը, որ ասացի ձեզ, թե՝ «Ծառան իր տիրոջից ավելի մեծ չէ»: Եթե ինձ հալածեցին, ապա ձեզ էլ կհալածեն. եթե իմ խոսքերը գործադրեցին, ապա ձերն էլ կգործադրեն: Բայց այս բոլորը ձեզ պիտի անեն իմ անվան պատճառով, որովհետև չեն ճանաչում նրան, ով ինձ ուղարկեց:

Սիրելինե՛ր, տարօրինակ մի՛ համարեք որևէ փորձություն… Անբնական մի՛ համարեք այն, այլ ընդունեցե՛ք որպես մասնակցություն Քրիստոսի չարչարանքներին և ուրախացե՛ք, որպեսզի երբ Քրիստոս հայտնվի փառքով, նույնպես ուրախանաք ցնծությամբ: Եթե նախատվեք էլ Քրիստոսի անվան համար, երանելի եք, որովհետև նշանակում է, թե Աստծու փառավորող Հոգին հանգչում է ձեզ վրա: Իմ խոսքը նրանց մասին չէ, ովքեր չարչարվում են իբրև մարդասպան կամ գող, իբրև չարագործ կամ խառնակիչ: Բայց ով որ չարչարվում է քրիստոնյա լինելու պատճառով, թող չամաչի, այլ փառավորի Աստծուն իր այդ անվամբ:
