Տիտանիկի կործանումը 30 տարի ուսումնասիրած լրագրողը բացահայտել է Տիտանիկի կործանման իրական պատճառը

Իռլանդացի լրագրող Շենան Մոլոնին, ով ավելի քան 30 տարի ուսումնասիրել է «Տիտանիկի» կործանման հանգամանքները, ենթադրություն է հայտնել, որ սառցաբեկորը նավի խորտակման միակ պատճառը չի եղել:
Ինչպես փոխանցում է The Independent-ը, լրագրողի կարծիքով` վառելիքի կուպեում բռնկված հրդեհի պատճառով, որը անձնակազմը երկար ժամանակ չէր կարողանում մարել, նավի կորպուսը չափից ավելի է տաքացել և չի կարողացել դիմագրավել սառցաբեկորի հարվածին:
Մոլոնին ուսումնասիրել է լեգենդար նավի լուսանկարները, որոնք արվել էին մինչև նավահանգստից նավի դուրս գալն ու Սաութհեմփթոնի մեկնելը: Այդ լուսանկարներում լրագրողը նկատել է, որ նավի կորպուսը պատված է եղել մրով հենց այն նույն մասում, որով հարվածել է սառցաբեկորին:
Հրդեհը սկսվել էր նախքան Բելֆաստի նավահանգստից դուրս գալը, որտեղ որ այն կառուցվել է: 12 հոգանոց թիմը անհաջող փորձել է մարել հրդեհը: Նա նշում է, որ պատվիրատուներին ցույց տալիս նավը հակառակ կողմով է ներկայացվել, թեև նրանք իմացել են հրդեհի մասին:
Հրդեհը կավի կորպուսի տվյալ հատվածը տաքացրել է մինչև 1000 աստիճան` ըստ Ցելսիուսի, ինչի հետևանքով այն բավականին բարակել էր և չէր դիմացել սառցաբեկորի հետ բախվելուն:
Այսպիսով, Մոլոնին ենթադրում է, որ սառցաբեկորը նավաբեկության միակ պատճառը չի եղել. «Դա մի շարք գործոնների «կատարյալ փոթորիկ» էր, այդ թվում` հրդեհը, սառույցը և հանցավոր անփութությունը»:
