Այսօր կարելի է գտնել զուգարանի թուղթ՝ ամենատաբեր գույների և բույրերի։ Սակայն շատ քչերը գիտեն, որ զուգարանի այսպիսի թղթերից պետք է խուսափել և չօգտագործել՝ ահա, թե ինչու։
 
1987թ․-ին ԱՄՆ-ի Պարենի և դեղամիջոցների վարչակազմը արգելեց որոշակի գույների և բույրերի օգտագործումը դեղագործական արդյունաբերության մեջ այն բանից հետո, երբ կենդանիների վրա կատարված փորձերը ցույց տվեցին ուռուցքների հաճախակիացում։ Չնայած նրան, որ այսօր բավական փոխվել են տեխնոլոգիաները, գունավոր և բուրավետ զուգարանի թղթերի կիրառման վերաբերյալ մտահոգությունները շարունակում են մնալ։
 
Զուգարանի թղթում առկա քիմիկատների առկայությունը, ինչպիսիք են գույները, բույրերը, վտանգում են մարդու առողջությունը և աղտոտում են շրջակա միջավայրը։
 
Միզուկի վարակներ
 
Գունավոր զուգարանի թուղթը կարող է գրգռել հեշտոցային շրջանը, այնպես որ դրանց կիրառումը հաճախ դառնում է միզուկի վարակների առաջացման պատճառ։
 
Արգանդի վզիկի քաղցկեղ
 
Ենթադրվում է, որ զուգարանի թղթի գույնն անմիջական ազդեցություն է ունենում կանանց վերարտադրողական համակարգի վրա և կարող է մեծացնել արգանդի վզիկի քաղցկեղի առաջացման հավանականությունը։

Գունավոր և բուրավետ զուգարանի թղթերի օգտագործումը կարող է առաջացնել բորբոքում և հետանցքի քոր։ 
 
Սնկային վարակներ
 
Հարցերից մեկը, որ գինեկոլոգները տալիս են կանանց, ովքեր ունենում են սնկային վարակներ, այն է, թե արդյոք օգտագործե՞լ են գունավոր և բուրավետ զուգարանի թուղթ։ Փորձագետները գտել են սնկային վարակերի և գունավոր զուգարանի թղթերի օգտագործման միջև կապը։
Շատերը չգիտեն, սակայն սպիտակ զուգարանի թուղթը ևս վտանգավոր է առողջության համար, քանի որ այն սպիտակեցվում է քլորինի միջոցով։
