ՄԱԿ-ի նոր գլխավոր քարտուղար Անտոնիու Գուտերեշը երեքշաբթի կոչ է արել ՄԱԿ-ի առջեւ ծառացած խնդիրները լուծելիս իրենից հրաշքներ չակնկալել: Նյու Յորքում կազմակերպության կենտրոնակայանում իր առաջին ելույթի ժամանակ նա նախազգուշացրել է, որ առջեւում դժվար ժամանակաշրջան է, եւ ընդգծել է գլոբալ խնդիրների հավաքական լուծման անհրաժեշտությունը: Այս մասին հայտնում է ՏԱՍՍ-ը: 

«Կարծում եմ՝ պատրանքներ չպետք է ունենանք»,- ՄԱԿ աշխատակիցների հետ հանդիպմանն ասել է Գուտերեշը: Նրա խոսքով՝ աշխարհում աճում է փոխկապված հակամարտությունների թիվը, որոնք սնուցում են գլոբալ ահաբեկչությանը, շարունակվում է փախստականների ճգնաժամը: «Այսօր աշխարհում խնդիրները գլոբալ են դարձել, որոնք երկրները չեն կարող միայնակ լուծել»,- ասել է նա:

Իններորդ գլխավոր քարտուղարի խոսքով՝ ՄԱԿ-ն իր ներկայիս տեսքով ի վիճակի չէ գլոբալ մարտահրավերներին արդյունավետորեն արձագանքել: Նրա կարծիքով՝ համաշխարհային կազմակերպությունում բարեփոխումներ են անհրաժեշտ, որոնք, ի թիվս այլ հարցերի, թույլ կտան ազատվել ավելորդ բյուրոկրատիայից:

Գուտերեշը հայտարարել է, որ իրենից մեծ ակնկալիքներ ունեն, սակայն հավելել է. «Հրաշքներ չեն լինում, եւ ես կախարդ չեմ: Դրված խնդիրներին հասնելու միակ ուղին միասին աշխատելն է»: Նա հայտնել է, որ հունվարի 9-ին ՄԱԿ աշխատակիցների ընդհանուր ժողով է անցկացնելու, որի ընթացքում կլսի նրանց առաջարկները եւ կազմակերպության աշխատանքին վերաբերող դժգոհությունները:

Հունվարի 10-ին գլխավոր քարտուղարը ելույթ կունենա ՄԱԿ Անվտանգության խորհրդի նախարարների բանավեճում: ԱԽ-ը ներկայացնող շվեդ դիվանագետ Ալաֆ Սկուգը լրագրողներին ասել է, որ Գուտերեշին կառաջարկվի ներկայացնել միջազգային խաղաղությանը եւ անվտանգությանն աջակցելու իր հայեցակարգը:
