Վիրջինիայի Տեխնոլոգիական համալսարանի գիտնականները պարզել են, որ ջուրը ճնշում է քաղցի զգացումը: Դա հնարավորություն է տալիս զգալիորեն քչացնել ընդունվող կալորիաները: Նախկինում հետազոտություն էր անցկացվել, որը ցույց էր տվել, որ կանայք, ովքեր օգտագործում են մեծ քանակությամբ ջուր, ավելի շատ կիլոգրամներ են կորցրել, քան կանայք, ովքեր օրական խմում եմ մեկ լիտրից ոչ ավելի: Հայտնի է, որ յուրաքանչյուր մարդ պետք է օրական խմի 2.5 լիտրից ոչ պակաս հեղուկ:
