Մարկո Խանլյանը ծնվել է Իրանի մայրաքաղաք Թեհրանում: Ինչպես տեղեկացնում է Past.am-ը` նրա հայրը՝ Լևոն Խանլյանը, ծագումով Լիբանանից էր, իսկ մայրը՝ Աննա Քարամյանը՝ Վրաստանից:
Խանլյան ընտանիքը վատ չէր ապրում Թեհրանում, սակայն լավագույն կյանքի փնտրտուքով տեղափոխվեց Իտալիա: Այնտեղ Մարկոն փոքր եղբոր՝ Ալեքոյի հետ ստացավ բարձրագույն կրթություն, իսկ մի քանի տարի անց տեղափոխվեց ԱՄՆ՝ Կալիֆոռնիա: 17 տարեկանում յուրացնելով անգլերենը (դերասանը գիտի 4 լեզու՝ հայերեն, ֆարսի, իտալերեն, անգլերեն)` Մարկոն 12 տարի ղեկավարում էր ռեստորանային բիզնեսը:
«Ռեստորանային բիզնեսում ես աշխատում էի օրական 12-14 ժամ: Ես անձնական կյանք չունեի, սակայն հանուն ընտանիքի պատրաստ էի ամեն ինչի»,- ասում է Խանը:
Սակայն նրա համար ռեստորանային բիզնեսի էջը փակվեց, երբ մահացավ հայրը: «Հորս մահից հետո մտածեցի կյանքի մասին ու հասկացա, որ չեմ ցանկանում ամբողջ կյանքս անցկացնել այդ գործի մեջ: Ինչ-որ մի անգամ ընկերներս ինձ խորհուրդ տվեցին փորձել ուժերս որպես երկրորդ պլանի դերասան: Քանի որ ես ատլետիկ մարմնակազմվածք ունեի, ինձ աշխատանք առաջարկեցին The Universal Studios-ում», - պատմում է Մարկոն:
Նրա առաջին աշխատանքներն են եղել «Ջրի աշխարհը» ու «Վայրի-վայրի Արևմուտք» նախագծերը: Անսովոր արտաքինի ու հայկական մեծ քթի պատճառով նա հաճախ մարմնավորել է բացասական կերպարների: Նկարահանումներից մեկի ժամանակ ռեժիսոր Գոռ Վերբինսկին նկատեց նրան ու գնահատելով նրա արևելյան արտաքինը՝ առաջարկեց անցնել դերասանական կուրսեր ու լրջորեն մտածել դերասանական կարիերայի մասին: Կուրսերից հետո Մարկոյի կյանքը վերափոխվեց ու նրան սկսեցին ճանաչել որպես դերասան Մարկո Խան:
«Իմ հայկական քիթը օգնել է ինձ առաջ շարժվել կարիերայի սանդուղքով: Դրա շնորհիվ ավելի ճանաչված դարձա ու սկսեցի աշխատանքի առաջարկներ ստանալ աշխատելու այնպիսի հոլիվուդյան դերասանների հետ, ինչպիսիք են Ադամ Սենդլերը, Ջոննի Դեփը, Ռոբերտ Դաունի-Կրտսերը, Ալբերտ Բրուքը, Կամիլա Բելը, Քրիստեն Ստյուարտը և այլք»,- ասում է դերասանը:
Նա նկարահանվել է հոլիվուդյան բազմաթիվ ֆիլմերում՝ «Կարիբյան կղզու ծովահենները», «Մեր թվարկությունից 10 000 տարի առաջ», «Աստված չի մահացել», «Կոտրված տիկնիկներ», «X-Ray ճամբարը», «Լաս Վեգաս», «Պիտբուլ» և այլն: Բացի Հոլիվուդից՝ դերասանը երազում է նաև փորձել ուժերը եվրոպական ու հայկական կինոինդուստրայում: Մարկոն ասում է, որ վաղուց է երազում Հայաստան այցելելու մասին, իրեն իսկապես տանը զգալու մասին ու երազում է հայրենիքում իր հայկական Հոլիվուդը ստեղծելու մասին:
«Երբ ես կգամ Հայաստան, անպայման ծնկի կգամ ու կհամբուրեմ մեր հողը: Երբ ես կլսեմ, թե ինչպես են բոլորը խոսում մայրենի լեզվով, ես կլացեմ, սակայն դրանք կլինեն ուրախության արցունքներ: Հայաստանը մեծ երկիր է ու մի օր ամեն ինչ դեպի լավը կփոխվի: Ես վստահ եմ»,- ասում է դերասանը:
