Տարածված կարծիք կա, որ էպիլեպսիկ ցնցման ժամանակ հնարավոր է կուլ տալ սեփական լեզուն և խեղդվել: Բայց դա այդպես չէ: Փորձեք հենց հիմա կուլ տալ Ձեր լեզուն: Ստացվե՞ց: Իհարկե, ոչ: Նման կերպ էլ էպիլեպսիկները դա անել չեն կարողանում: Իսկ թուլանալ և փակել շնչուղիները լեզուն կարող է: Այդ իսկ պատճառով անհրաժեշտ է ցնցման ժամանակ մարդուն շրջել և պառկեցնել կողերի վրա՝ լեզվի թուլացումից և հետ գնալուց խուսափելու համար:

Էպիլեպսիկ ցնցման ժամանակ մարդը ոչ մի ցավ չի զգում: Սա կարևոր է իմանալ հատկապես առաջին օգգնություն ցուցաբերելու ժամանակ: Էպիլեպսիան ցավ չի առաջացնում, այլ ուղղակի թեթև մկանային սպազմ: Այդ իսկ պատճառով անհրաժեշտ չէ ինչ-որ կերպ փորձել կանխել ցնցումը: Հարկավոր է ուղղակի գլխի տակ որևէ փափուկ բան դնել:
Գենետիկա
Յուրաքանչյուր մարդու մոտ կա էպիլեպսիայի դեմ հակահակում. որոշների մոտ այդ դա մեծ է, իսկ մնացածի մոտ՝ փոքր: Ինչքան մեծ է հակահակման մակարդակը, այնքան քիչ է հավանականությունը, որ կհիվանդանաք էպիլեպսիայով: Չնայած, էպիլեպսիայի արհեստական առաջացում կարող է լինել ալկոհոլի և թմրանյութերի չարաշահման, սթրեսային իրավիճակների պատճառով: Սակայն միևնույն է, կարևորագույն դերը գենետիկայինն է: 20-րդ դարի սկզբում ԱՄՆ-ի մի քանի նահանգներում հատուկ օրենքներ ընդունվեցին, ըստ որոնց էպիլեպսիկներին արգելվում էր ամուսնանալ և երեխաներ ունենալ:
Լույսի նկատմամբ զգայունություն
Երբևէ նկատե՞լ եք ֆիլմերից կամ հեռուստահաղորդումներից առաջ նշվող հետևյալ գրությունը. «Զգուշացե՛ք, լույսի պայծառությունը բարձր է»: Բանն այն է, որ 20 էպիլեպսիկներից 1-ը չափազանց զգայուն է վառ լույսի նկատմամբ: Լույսի փոփոխությունը նրա մոտ կարող է ցնցման պատճառ դառնալ: Այդ իսկ պատճառով էպիլեպսիկներից շատերին խորհուրդ չի տրվում կինո, ակումբներ և նմանատիպ «լուսավոր» վայրեր հաճախել:

Ընդամենը երկու դեղամիջոցներ գույություն ունեն, որոնք կարողանում են ազդել մարդու էպիլեպսիկ կարգավիճակի վրա: Դրանք են դիստատը և դիազեպամը: Դրանք իրենցից ներկայացնում են գելային զանգվածներ՝ լցված պլաստիկ ապլիկատորների մեջ: Բացարձակապես խորհուրդ չի տրվում օգտագործել որևէ դեղամիջոց՝ առանց բժշկի հետ խորհրդակցելու:
