Британский солдат Кевин Эллиот отправился в Афганистан и в шутку заключил пари со своим лучшим другом Барри Дилэйни. Эллиот настаивал, что если он когда-нибудь будет убит в бою, Дилэйни должен надеть на его похороны самое нелепое и уродливое платье, какое только сможет найти. Дилэйни, конечно, согласился на столь мрачный и одновременно смешной уговор.
Когда пришло время похорон Эллиота, Дилэйни точно знал, что делать. Он налил себе любимый напиток друга и поднял тост за павшего героя. Дилэйни нарядился в самое смешное платье, которое отыскал. Скорбящий дополнил свой образ розовыми неоновыми гольфами.
Бесспорно, странное платье было неуместным на похоронах, но это лишь на первый взгляд. Ведь оно отображало историю настоящей дружбы. Все присутствующие были осведомлены об обещании, которое дал Эллиоту товарищ. С глубокими чувствами сопереживания смотрели они на наряженного солдата.
