Автомобиль наехал на пешеходов в австралийском Мельбурне

В центре австралийского Мельбурна автомобиль наехал на пешеходов. По последним данным, в результате погибли три человека, и еще 20 получили травмы различной степени тяжести. Причем среди пострадавших - четверо детей.
Между тем не исключено, что водитель совершил наезд умышленно. После инцидента стражи порядка задержали его. По словам очевидцев, мужчина, находившийся за рулем, вел машину весьма странным образом, при этом, врезавшись в толпу, он даже не попытался затормозить.
В настоящее время район происшествия оцеплен вооруженными полицейскими. Правоохранители выясняют все обстоятельства случившегося.
Стоит отметить, что в эти дни в Мельбурне проходит Открытый чемпионат Австралии по теннису, поэтому сейчас в городе много иностранных туристов. Однако ЧП на проведение турнира не повлияло, пишет The Guardian.
Кстати, напомним, в последнее время машины становятся излюбленным оружием террористов. Так, последняя атака с использованием автомобиля произошла в Иерусалиме 8 января.
