«Չորրորդ իշխանություն» թերթը գրում է. «Սերժ Սարգսյանի իշխանությունը դիվանագիտական ասպարեզում հայտնվել է անախորժ դրության մեջ: Իսկ պատճառը իշխանական կուսակցության՝ ՀՀԿ խորհրդարանական խմբակցության ղեկավար Վահրամ Բաղդասարյանի անհարգալից հայտարարություններն են՝ ՀՀ-ում ԱՄՆ դեսպան Ռիչարդ Միլսի հասցեին:
Օրերս դեսպան Միլսը «Ազատություն» ռադիոկայանին տված հարցազրույցում հայտարարել էր, թե Հայաստանում առկա կոռուպցիան խոչընդոտում է տնտեսական աճը, վտանգում է մարդու իրավունքների պաշտպանությունը, ժողովրդավարությունը եւ անգամ՝ ազգային անվտանգությունը: Եւ ահա Վահրամ Բաղդասարյանը, հակադարձելով դեսպանի հայտարարություններին, ասել էր, թե դա դեսպանի մասնավոր կարծիքն է, ոչ թե ԱՄՆ-ի ու հավելել. «Բայց դրան շատ լուրջ վերաբերվել եւ պաշտոնական պատասխան տալ, չեմ կարծում, թե պետք է:
Բնականաբար, Վահրամ Բաղդասարյանի հայտարարությունները լուրջ դժգոհություն են առաջացրել ԱՄՆ դեսպանությունում: Ինչպես պնդում են «ՉԻ» աղբյուրները, նրանք չեն պատրաստվում «կուլ տալ» Վ. Բաղդասարյանի ասածները: Պարզապես, այս պահին նրանք փորձելու են հարցին անդրադառնալ ավելի լուրջ ձեւով՝ դիվանագիտական խողովակներով, ինչպես նաեւ մասնավոր հանդիպումների ժամանակ՝ Սերժ Սարգսյանի եւ Էդվարդ Նալբանդյանի առջեւ լրջորեն բարձրացնելով այն:

Բաղդասարյանի այս հայտարարությունը նաեւ Սերժ Սարգսյանի զայրույթն է հարուցել: Ու պատահական չէ, որ երեկ ՀՀԿ խմբակցության քարտուղար Գագիկ Մելիքյանը «գործուղվել էր» ասուլիսի, որպեսզի փորձեր փրկել իրավիճակը՝ ասելով. «Հայաստանում ԱՄՆ դեսպանի կողմից հնչեցված բոլոր առաջարկները, որոնք վերաբերում են կոռուպցիոն երեւույթներին, կարող են քննարկման առարկա դառնալ»:
