Միգրենը շատ տարածված նյարդաբանական խնդիր է, որի առավել բնորոշ ախտանիշերն են ուժեղ գլխացավի պարբերաբար կրկնվող նոպաները: Պարզվել է, որ միգրենը ոչ միայն վտանգավոր եւ տհաճ է ինքնին, այլ նաեւ կրկնապատկում է Բելլի կաթվածի հավանականությունը (դիմային նյարդի կաթվածի ամենատարածված ձեւը):
Հետազոտությանը մասնակցել են 136 704 չափահասներ: Առաջին խմբում ընդգրկվել են միգրեն ունեցող, իսկ երկրորդի մեջ՝ այդ միգրեն չունեցող մարդիկ: Մոտ երեք տարի գիտնականները հետեւել են կամավորներին և ականատես եղել, որ այդ ժամանակահատվածում Բելլի կաթվածը զարգացել է միգրեն ունեցող 671 մարդու եւ այդ հիվանդությունը չունեցող 365 մասնակցի մոտ:
Այսինքն՝ կարելի է եզրակացնել, որ միգրենով հիվանդ մարդիկ երկու անգամ ավելի են հակված Բելլի կաթված ստանալու հավանականությանը, քան այս հիվանդությունը չունեցողները:
