Ամբողջ աշխարհում փետրվարի 15-ն նշվում է որպես մանկական քաղցկեղի դեմ պայքարի միջազգային օր՝ նպատակ ունենալով բարձրացնելու իրազեկվածությունը և աջակցություն ցուցաբերելու հիվանդ երեխաներին ու նրանց ընտանիքի անդամներին:  

Առողջապահության համաշխարհային կազմակերպության (ԱՀԿ) վիճակագրական տվյալների համաձայն` աշխարհում տարեկան գրանցվում է չարորակ ուռուցքով հիվանդացության 215 000 նոր դեպք մինչև 14 տարեկան երեխաների շրջանում և 85 000` 15-ից 19 տարեկանների շրջանում: ԱՀԿ մասնագետների կարծիքով` ժամանակին ախտորոշում և բուժում ստանալու պարագայում չարորակ ուռուցքների 80%-ը բուժվում է: Մեր երկրում այդ թիվը տատանվում է 65%-ից 70%-ի սահմաններում:

Բժշկագիտության վերջին տասնամյակների զարգացումների շնորհիվ մանկական ուռուցքաբանության բնագավառում արձանագրվում են դրական արդյունքներ: Հիվանդություններ, որ նախկինում համարվում էին անբուժելի, ներկայումս՝ քիմիաթերապիայի, վիրահատական և ճառագայթային բուժման մեթոդների, ինչպես նաև իմունաթերապիայի, ցողունային բջիջների փոխպատվաստման արդյունքում հնարավոր է դարձել բուժել:

Մանկական քաղցկեղի առավել հաճախ հանդիպող տեսակներն են` լեյկեմիաներն ու լիմֆոմաները, գլխուղեղի և կենտրոնական նյարդային համակարգի չարորակ նորագոյացությունները, ոսկրային հյուսվածքի ուռուցքները` օստեոսարկոման և Յուինգի սարկոման, նեյրոբլաստոման, Վիլսմի ուռուցքը, ռաբդոմիոսարկոման և այլն:

Հայաստանում տարեկան գրանցվում է մանկական քաղցկեղի 50-ից 60 նոր դեպք:  Չարորակ ուռուցքներով երեխաների ախտորոշումը և բուժումը կատարվում է ՀՀ ԱՆ Վ.Ֆանարջյանի անվան Ուռուցքաբանության ազգային կենտրոնում, ՀՀ ԱՆ Ռ.Յոլյանի անվան արյունաբանական կենտրոնում և ԵՊԲՀ «Մուրացան» հիվանդանոցային համալիրի քիմիաթերապիայի կլինիկայում` պետական պատվերի շրջանակներում: 

Քաղցկեղով հիվանդ երեխաների բուժման գործընթացում անգնահատելի է «Նվիրիր կյանք» բարեգործական հիմնադրամի և հոգաբարձուների խորհրդի պատվավոր նախագահ Ռիտա Սարգսյանի մասնակցությունը: Հիմնադրամը մշտապես աջակցում է հիվանդ երեխաների բուժման հետ կապված խնդիրների լուծմանը, թանկարժեք դեղերի ձեռք բերմանը, անհրաժեշտության դեպքում` օժանդակում է նրանց բուժման կազմակերպմանը ինչպես արտերկրի հեմատոլոգիական և օնկոլոգիական կլինիկաներում, այնպես էլ Հայաստանում վերջերս արդիականացված ՀՀ ԱՆ Ռ.Յոլյանի անվան արյունաբանական կենտրոնում: Նոր ծառայություններով ու սարքավորումներով համալրված կենտրոնը հնարավորություն ունի բարձրացնելու և միջազգային ցուցանիշներին հասցնելու հիվանդ մանուկների, նաև մեծահասակների բուժման արդյունավետությունը: Կենտրոնում արյան չարորակ հիվանդությունների ախտորոշումն իրականացվում է միջազգային չափանիշներին համապատասխան նորագույն մեթոդներով: Միաժամանակ, ՀՀ ԱՆ Ռ.Յոլյանի անվան արյունաբանական կենտրոնում հիմնվել է տարածաշրջանում եզակի ոսկրածուծի փոխպատվաստման բաժանմունք, որի շնորհիվ հիվանդներն այլևս ստիպված չեն լինի իրենց փրկությունը որոնել արտերկրո ւմ:
