Շատ մարդկանց մոտ այնպես է, որ երկու «զբաղմունքները»` ուտելն ու ընթերցելը, կատարում են միաժամանակ: Մասնագետները խորհուրդ չեն տալիս ուտել ընթերցելու ժամանակ: Թերթելով գիրքն ընթրիքի ժամանակ, ընթերցելով դասագիրքը ճաշելիս, կամա թե ակամա, ուշադրությունը ցրվում է: Ընթերցվածը դժվար է հիշվում եւ ընկալվում:
Ընթերցելու սովորությունն ուտելիս ազդում է մարդու կեցվածքի վրա, ոչ բնական դիրք է գրավում գլուխը, պարանոցի մկանները լարվում են: Այն ազդում է նաեւ տեսողության վրա, քանի որ չեն պահպանվում տարրական կանոններ: Անհրաժեշտ է սկզբում տեսնել ուտելիքը, զգալ հոտն, ապա` ուտել: Մի քանի րոպե անց, երբ զգացել եք ուտելիքի համը, զգալի չափով ուժեղանում է ենթաստամոքսային գեղձի, ստամոքսի եւ աղիների աշխատունակությունը, ինչպես նաեւ՝ լեղարտադրությունը: Իսկ ընթերցելիս, երբ ձեր ուշադրությունը կենտրոնացած է ընթերցանության վրա, կտրուկ ընկնում է ռեֆլեկտոր փուլը:
Այսինքն՝ դուք կուլ եք տալիս ուտելիքը` առանց զգալու դրա համը և հոտը: Ուտելիքն ընկնելով ստամոքս, բավականին երկար ժամանակ չի մարսվի, քանի որ ստամոքսահյութն ու տարբեր ֆերմենտներն արտազատվում են 2-3 անգամ քիչ: Այստեղից էլ խանգարվում է օրգանիզմի նյութափոխանակությունը, իր հետ բերելով հիվանդագին երևույթներ:
Մասնագետները զգուշացնում են, որ այս վնասակար սովորությունը կարող է սրել եւ խորացնել աղեստամոքսային տրակտի հիվանդությունները` գաստրիտը, խոցը եւ այլն:
