Մասաչուսեթսի համալսարանի գիտնականները պարզել են, որ լոբազգիները, ընկուզեղենը, եւ կաղամբը մկանային զանգվածի աճին պակաս չեն նպաստում, քան մսամթերքները և բուսական ծագմամբ մթերքներից ստացած սպիտակուցները նվազեցնում են ցանկացած պատճառով մահվան հավանականությունը:
Հետազոտության շրջանակներում գիտնականները վերլուծել են 2986 մարդու սննդակարգը: Կամավորների 82 տոկոսը ստացել է խորհուրդ տրվող սպիտակուցների օրական նորմա: Մասնակիցների սննդակարգը հետազոտելով՝ գիտնականներն առանձնացրել են սնվելու 6 տեսակ, որոնք տարբերվել են սպիտակուցների հիմնական աղբյուրներով՝ արագ սնունդ եւ յուղոտ կաթնամթերք, ձուկ, կարմիր միս, հավ, քիչ յուղայնությամբ կաթնամթերքներ եւ լոբազգիներ:
Հետազոտությամբ պարզվել է, որ ավելի շատ սպիտակուցներ օգտագործած մասնակիցների մոտ մկանային զանգվածի եւ ազդրի քառագլուխ մկանի ուժը ամենաբարձրն է եղել: 70 կգ քաշով մարդու համար սպիտակուցների ամենամեծ քանակը 126 գրամն է, իսկ ամենափոքր քանակը՝ 52 գրամը:
Արդյունքում պարզվեց, որ լոբազգիներից ստացված սպիտակուցները այնքան օգտակար էին եւ նպաստում էին մկանների աճին, որքան կարմիր մսից ստացածը, իսկ ահա բուսական սպիտակուցների օգտագործումը 12 տոկոսով նվազեցնում է սիրտ-անոթային հիվանդությունների հետեւանքով մահվան հավանականությունը:
