Սումգայիթում հայության նկատմամբ իրագործված ոճրագործությունն Ադրբեջանի կառավարության կողմից ծրագրված է եղել

Հայերի ջարդերը ծրագրվել և իրագործվել էր հենց Սումգայիթում, քանի որ այնտեղ մեծաթիվ հայեր էին բնակվում: Ինչպես հաղորդում է «Արմենպրես»-ը, «Արցախպրես»-ի հաղորդմամբ` այս մասին ասել է Արցախի Հանրապետության փախստականների միության Ստեփանակերտի ներկայացուցիչ Ռուզաննա Ավագյանը: «Ազերի հրոսակախմբերը երեք օր շարունակ սպանում ու թալանում էին տեղի հայերին. այդ ա մենը իրոք սարսափելի սպանդ էր: Սումգայիթում ադրբեջանցիները իրենց վայրագություններով բացահայտեցին իրենց իսկ դեմքը: Ցավոք, մինչ այժմ այդ ցեղասպան ոճրագործություններին իրավական գնահատական չեն տրվել և ոչ ոք էլ պատասխանատվության չի ենթարկվել ու չի պատժվել»,-ասել է նա:
Ավագյանը նշեց, որ նպատակներին հասնելու համար Ադրբեջանն միջազգային հարթակներում շահարկում է իր փախստականների հարցը, նույնիսկ այն պարագայում, երբ Ադրբեջանի փախստականների մեծ մասը ներքին տեղահանման արդյունքում են հայտնվել փախստականի կարգավիճակում: «Այդ մասին, ըստ էության, մենք քիչ ենք բարձրաձայնել, ինչը համարում եմ հայերիս թերացումը»,-մասնավորապես ասել է Ավագյանը:
Սումգայիթյան դեպքերին է անդրադարձել նաև Ստեփանակերտի համար 7 հիմնական դպրոցի տնօրեն Անահիտ Պողոսյանը, ով իր խոսքում մասնավորապես ասել է. «Մեր ժողովուրդը հանկարծակիի է եկել. ոչ-ոք չէր սպասում, որ Խորհրդային Միությունում կարող է վայրագություն կատարվել մի ժողովրդի հանդեպ, որի ներկայացուցիչներն են հենց կառուցել է Սումգայիթ քաղաքը: Մենք չենք մոռանա 1988 թվականի փետրվարի 27-29-ը Սումգայիթում տեղի ունեցած հայերի սպանդը: Չի կարելի մոռանալ պատմության դաժան իրողությունները: Պետք է հիշել ու զգոն լինել, որպեսզի չթողնենք , որ հետագայում կրկնվեն նան նոր ոճրագործություններ: Ամեն անգամ, երբ մեր թշնամիները նոր «անակնկալներ» են մատուցում, ինչպես ապրիլյան քառօրյան էր, մենք բռնցքվում ենք և ազգովին զինվորագրվում հայրենիքի պաշտպանությանը»:
