Երևանի պետական համալսարանի դասախոս, «Արեգնազան» կրթահամալիրի տնօրեն Արա Աթայանը կտրականապես դեմ է Ցեղասպանություն առարկայի դասավանդմանը դպրոցներում: Tert.am –ի հետ զրույցում նա ասաց, որ նույն տրամաբանությամբ դպրոցներում կարելի է դասավանդել, օրինակ՝ «Ատելություն» կամ «Հանցագործություն» առարկան։

«Երեխաները քաղաքական կազմակերպություններ կամ դիվանագետներ չեն, որ մանրամասն ուսումնասիրեն ցեղասպանությունը: Մեզ համար առաջնահերթ է, որ նրանք հոգեպես կայուն և հավասարակշռված մեծանան: Առհասարակ կարծում եմ, որ ազգային ինքնությունը չի կարելի կառուցել նման առարկայի օգնությամբ, այլ սեփական պատմությանը հայացք ուղղելով, որի մեջ կլինի նաև ցեղասպանությունը, որպես սեփական պատմության փաստերից մեկը»,-կարծում է մտավորականը:

Հիշեցնենք, որ ԱՄՆ Կալիֆոռնիայի համալսարանի դասախոս, Հայոց ցեղասպանությանը և Հայ դատին նվիրված դասագրքերի հեղինակ Ռուբինա Փիրումյանի՝ «Հայոց ցեղասպանության դասավանդումը պատմվածքների, հեքիաթների, զրույցների, բանաստեղծությունների, փաստական նյութերի միջոցով» ուսուցչի համար ձեռնարկը և Ցեղասպանություն առարկայի դասավանդումը բուռն քննարկումների առիթ հանդիսացավ: Հասարակության մի մասի կարծիքով՝ սա նորմալ է և կնպաստի Հայոց ցեղասպանության ճանաչման հետագա գործընթացներին, իսկ մյուս հատվածը գտնում, է, որ սա անիմաստ է, քանի որ այսպես թե այնպես պատմության դասագրքերը մանրամասն ներկայացնում են Հայոց ցեղասպանությունը:

Ըստ Արա Աթայանի՝ Ցեղասպանությունը այսպես, թե այնպես ծանոթ է աշակերտներին պատմության դասագրքերից, ըստ որում՝ ոչ միայն հայոց, այլև համաշխարհային:

Ավելին` Արա Աթայանը համարում է, որ կարելի է պատմության դասերի ընթացքում ուսումնասիրել ոչ միայն հայոց, այլև, այլ ազգերի ցեղասպանություններ, բայց ցեղասպանությունը չդարձնել առարկա:

Այլապես սա կնշանակի, որ Ցեղասպանությունը, որպես երևույթ, հավասարեցվում է ֆիզիկային, քիմիային, աշխարհագրությանը:
