ՄԱԿ-ը հայտարարել է, որ Եմենում, Հարավային Սուդանում, Նիգերիայում և Սոմալիում առկա մարդասիրական ճգնաժամն ամենախոշորն է 1945թ.-ին կազմակերպության ստեղծումից ի վեր: Այդ մասին հայտարարել է ՄԱԿ-ի գլխավոր քարտուղարի մարդասիրական հարցերով տեղակալ Սթիվեն Օ՛Բրայենն Անվտանգության խորհրդի նիստի ժամանակ, գրում է lenta.ru-ն:
Նրա խոսքով՝ աշխարհն այժմ վերապրում է պատմության ճգնաժամային փուլ. ավելի քան 20 մլն մարդու չորս երկրում սպառնում է սովը:
«Եթե չգործադրվեն հավաքական ու համակարգված գլոբալ ջանքեր՝ մարդիկ պարզապես կմահանան սովից: Շատերը կտառապեն և կմահանան հիվանդություններից», - ասել է Օ՛Բրայենը ՄԱԿ-ի Անվտանգության խորհրդի նիստի ժամանակ:
Օ՛Բրայենը նշել է, որ այդ երկրներում մարդասիրական գործողությունների իրենց պլանը գործի դնելու համար անհրաժեշտ է մոտ 4.4 մլրդ ԱՄՆ դոլար: Նա նաև շեշտել է, որ այս մարդկանց օգնելու ճանապարհին նրանց էապես խանգարում են ռազմական գործողություններն ու հակամարտող կողմերի մոտ մարդասիրական առաքելությունների հետ համագործակցելու ցանկության բացակայությունը:
ՄԱԿ-ի գլխավոր քարտուղարի տեղակալը կոչ է արել Անվտանգության խորհրդի անդամներին համոզել հակամարտող կողմերին դադարեցնել բախումները:
