Ժամանակակից էթիկետը վարքագծի կանոնների շարք է, որոնքօգնում են հաճելի տպավորություն գործել եւ արդյունավետ շփումկառուցել։ Իրականում էթիկետի հիմքերը բավականին պարզ են։Դրանք են՝ խոսքի մշակույթը, տարրական քաղաքավարությունը, կոկիկ արտաքին տեսքն ու հույզերը կառավարել կարողանալը։ Դավերաբերում է ինչպես տղամարդկանց, այնպես էլ կանանց։

1. Երբեք հյուր մի գնացեք առանց զանգահարելու։ Եթե ձեզ այցելեն առանց նախազգուշացման, կարող եք ձեզ թույլ տալ լինել խալաթով եւ վարսափաթաթուկներով (բիգուդի)։ Մի բրիտանացի տիկին ասւմ էր, որ անկոչ հյուրերի դեպքում ինքը միշտ կրել է կոշիկները, գլխարկը եւ վերցրել անձրեւանոցը։ Եթե մարդն իրեն հաճելի է եղել, նա բացականչել է. «Ահ, ինչպիսի հաջողություն, ես հենց նոր եկա»։ Իսկ եթե տհաճ է. «Ահ, ինչ ափսոս, ես պետք է գնամ»։

2. Անձրեւանոցը երբեք չպետք է չորացնել բացված վիճակում՝ ոչ գրասենյակում, ոչ հյուրընկալվելիս։ Այն պետք է ծալել եւ դնել հատուկ բարձրակի վրա կամ կախել։

3. Պայուսակը չի կարելի դնել ծնկներին կամ աթոռին։ Փոքրիկ պայուսակը կարելի է դնել սեղանին, կախել աթոռի մեջքին կամ հատակին դնել, եթե հատուկ աթոռակ չկա դրա համար (ռեստորաններում հաճախ հատկացնում են նման աթոռներ)։   

4. Մոմլաթե փաթեթները թույլատրելի են միայն սուպերմարկետից վերադառնալիս, այնպես ինչպես թղթե ֆիրմային փաթեթները՝ բուտիկներից։ Պետք չէ հետագայում դրանք կրել որպես պայուսակ։

5. Տղամարդը երբեք կանացի պայուսակ չի կրում։ Իսկ կանանցի վերարկուն վերցնում է միայն հանդերձարան հասցնելու համար։
