Խնկի անուշ բույրը հանգստացնում է հոգու ցավը, ներքին տագնապը: Խունկը նաև կանխարգելում է միկրոբների ու բակտերիաների բազմացումը օդում, ջրում և օրգանիզմում: Իսկ ո՞րն է խնկի գաղտնիքը:
Խնկի օգտակար հատկանիշները
Խունկը հազվադեպ «Boswellia» կոչվող ծառի խեժն է: Այս ծառը տարածում ունի Արաբական թերակղզում: Խունկը տարբեր խեժերի (լատան, կնդրուկ, ստաշխն, հալվե, խունկ) հավաքական անվանումն է։ Այդ խեժերը պնդանալիս փոխարկվում են դեղնավուն կտորների, այրվելիս արձակում են բուրավետ հոտ։
Երբ եկեղեցում խունկ են վառում, խնկի բույրը տարածվում է ամբողջ սենյակով մեկ և սկսում է սպանել օդում ապրող բակտերիաներն ու միկրոբները:

Խնկի բույրն ամրացնում է հիշողությունը: Միջնադարյան հայ բժիշկ Ամիրդովլաթ Ամասիացին գրել է՝ «իր դառնությամբ և չոր էությամբ խունկն ամրացնում է գիտակցությունն ու բուժում է մոռացկոտությունը»:
Հին Ռուսաստանում խնկի ջուր էին տալիս եկեղեցում գտնվողներին, քանի որ հավատում էին, որ խնկի ջուրը հոգուց դուրս է բերում չարքերին: Ընդհանուր առմամբ՝ խունկն ավելի շատ հոգու դարման է, քան՝ մարմնի:
