Հայաստանի ֆուտբոլի ազգային թիմի ավագ և անգլիական «Մանչեսթեր Յունայթեդ»-ի ֆուտբոլիստ Հենրիխ Մխիթարյանը մեծ պատիվ է համարում Հայաստանի լավագույն ֆուտբոլիստի կոչումը, սակայն առաջնային չի համարում այն: «Ինձ համար այս մրցանակը ոչ մի բանով բացառիկ չէր: Ուրախ եմ, որ ևս մեկ անգամ դարձա Հայաստանի լավագույն ֆուտբոլիստ: Կարծում եմ, այս մրցանակը ինձ հետագայում ավելի մեծ ուժ կտա, փորձելու եմ առավելագույնը անել , որ նորից արժանանամ այս մրցանակին»-,«Արմենպրես»-ի հաղորդմամբ` լրագրողների հետ հանդիպման ժամանակ ասաց Մխիթարյանը:

Խոսելով մրցակցության մասին՝ Մխիթարյանը փաստեց, որ մրցակցություն միշտ էլ կա: «Կապ չունի, թե քանի անգամ եմ արժանացել Հայաստանի լավագույն ֆուտբոլիստ կոչմանը: Ինձ համար բոլոր խաղընկերներս, ինձ ընկեր են և բոլորն էլ ինձ մրցակից են: Փորձում եմ այնպես անել, որ Հայաստան անունը բարձր պահեմ թե Անգլիայում, թե ամբողջ աշխարհում: Ինձ համար կարևոր է, որ Հայաստանի մասին հնարավորից շատ մարդ իմանա: Ինձ համար մեծ պատիվ է Հայաստանի լավագույն ֆուտբոլիստ դառնալը, սակայն դա առաջնային նպատակ չէ»,-ասաց Մխիթարյանը:

Հայաստանի ֆուտբոլի ֆեդերացիան հանձնեց տարվա լավագույն ֆուտբոլիստի և մարզիչի մրցանակները: Ակումբներում զբաղվածության պատճառով ֆուտբոլիստները մինչև օրս չէին կարողացել ժամանել Հայաստան՝ ստանալու իրենց մրցանակները: Այժմ նրանք բոլորն էլ գտնվում են Հայաստանի ազգային հավաքականի ճամբարում:

Ավանի ֆուտբոլի ակադեմիայում կայացած պարգևատրման արարողության ընթացքում Հենրիխ Մխիթարյանը 6-րդ անգամ անընդմեջ և 7-րդ անգամ ընդհանրապես ստացավ Հայաստանի տարվա լավագույն ֆուտբոլիստի համար նախատեսված «Ոսկե գնդակ»-ը: Երկրորդ տեղը զբաղեցրել է պորտուգալական «Մարիտիմուի» կիսապաշտպան Գևորգ Ղազարյանը, իսկ երրորդ տեղում հունական «Քսանթի»-ի ֆուտբոլիստ Մարկոս Պիզելին է: Ինչպես և հայտնի էր,  լավագույն մարզիչը Գյումրու «Շիրակ»-ի գլխավոր մարզիչ Վարդան Բիչախչյանն է: Նա ևս ստացավ իր մրցանակը:
