Մարտի 25-ին հռոմեական Կապիտոլիումում կանցկացվի Եվրոպական միության անդամ 27 երկրների (առանց Մեծ Բրիտանիայի) ղեկավարների հանդիպումը` նվիրված Մարդկանց, ապրանքների, ծառայությունների և կապիտալի ազատ տեղաշարժի մասին հռոմեական համաձայնագրի 60-ամյակին: Այս մասին հայտնում է Եվրոպական խորհրդի կայքը:
Աղբյուրի հաղորդմամբ` արարողության արդյունքներով պլանավորվում է քաղաքական հռչակագիր ընդունել, որում կհաստատվի եվրոպական ինտեգրման նախագծի գործունությունն ու կներկայացվեն ընդհանուր պատկերացումներն առաջիկա տարիների վերաբերյալ:
Նշվում է, որ ԵՄ անդամ երկրների ղեկավարներն այդ հռչակագրում կգնահատեն միության ձեռքբերումներն անցած 60 տարիների ընթացքում և կստանձնեն հանուն անվտանգ և ուժեղ Եվրոպայի աշխատելու պարտավորությունը:
Եվրոպական խորհրդի նախագահ Դոնալդ Տուսկի խոսքով` Եվրոպական միությունը պետք է հստակորեն պահի իր արժանապատվությունը` անկախ այն բանից` երկխոսությունը տարվում է Ռուսաստանի, Չինաստանի, ԱՄՆ-ի, թե Թուրքիայի հետ:
Ավելի վաղ հաղորդվել է, որ Գերմանիայի կանցլեր Անգելա Մերկելը խոստովանել է, որ ԵՄ-ն մի շարք սխալներ է գործել, և հայտնել, որ անհրաժեշտ է շտկել դրանք: Մերկելը նաև կոչ է արել ավարտին հասցնել արդեն իսկ իրենց առջև դրված խնդիրները:
