 ՀՀ կառավարությունը հաստատեց Սյունիքի մարզի Ագարակ քաղաքային, Կարճևան գյուղական համայնքների և Արաքս գետով պարփակված տարածքում ազատ տնտեսական գոտի ստեղծելու, «Սյունիք ազատ տնտեսական գոտի» ՍՊԸ-ն ԱՏԳ կազմակերպիչ ճանաչելու, ինչպես նաև ազատ տնտեսական գոտու գործունեության վերաբերյալ կազմակերպչի կողմից ներկայացվող հաշվետվության ձևերը: ՀՀ տնտեսական զարգացման և ներդրումների նախարար Սուրեն Կարայանը նշեց, որ ազ ատ տնտեսական գոտու ընդհանուր տարածքը կկազմի մոտ 32 հա, որտեղ տեղակայված կլինեն համապատասխան շինություններ: «Ազատ տնտեսական գոտու կազմակերպման ընթացքում «Սյունիք ազատ տնտեսական գոտի» ՍՊԸ-ն սկզբնական էտապում կկատարի մոտ 3 մլն դոլարի ներդրում և կստեղծի մինչև 80 միջինից բարձր վարձատրվող նոր աշխատատեղ: Հնարավոր կլինի արդեն այս աշնանը մեկնարկել տնտեսական գոտու գործունեությունը, ինչի ընթացքում ակնկալվում է ներգրավել մինչև 120 հիմնականում օտարերկրյա շահագործողներ, որոնց համախառն ներդրումները կկազմեն շուրջ 350-400 մլն դոլար, կարտահանեն միջինը տարեկան շուրջ 100 մլն դոլարի արտադրանք և  գործունեության տարիների ընթացքում կստեղծեն 2500 և ավել նոր աշխատատեղ»,-  «Արմենպրես»-ի հաղորդմամբ, ասաց Կարայանը:

Նրա խոսքով, տվյալ նախաձեռնությունը կարող է հզոր խթան հանդիսանալ ՀՀ տարածքային զարգացման, Իրանի Իսլամական Հանրապետության հետ տնտեսական կապերի զարգացման, իրանյան պոտենցիալի արդյունավետ օգտագործման, մասնավորապես Եվրասիական Տնտեսական Միությանը ՀՀ անդամակցությամբ բացվող նոր հնարավորությունների՝ Ռուսաստանի, Ղազախստանի, Բելառուսի և Ղրղզստանի շուկաներ ազատ մուտքի օգտագործման տեսակետից: Կարայանն ընդգծեց, որ ակնկալում են երրորդ երկրներից ներգրավել այն տնտեսվարող սուբյեկտներին, որոնք պարզ վարչարարության և էֆեկտիվ կարգով, իրենց տատեսական շահերը հետապնդելու ակնկալիքից շահագրգռված, նպատակահարմար կհամարեն մաքսային միության և իրանական շուկայի հետ  աշխատել, վերջիններիս տնտեսական սահմանի խաչմերուկ հանդիսացող Սյունիք ազատ տնտեսական գոտու միջոցով:

ՀՀ վարչապետ Կարեն Կարապետյանը Սուրեն Կարայանին հանձնարարեց ԱՏԳ-ի վերաբերյալ ամբողջ տեղեկատվությունը ներկայացնել Ռուսաստանի, Ղազախստանի, Բելառուսի և Վրաստանի գործընկերներին: «Ես խոսել եմ մեր գործընկերների հետ, ուղարկում եք այդ տեղեկատվությունը, և հստակ նշում, թե երբ է հարթակը պատրաստ լինելու: Այդ երկրների այն կապիտալներին, որոնք շահագրգռված են բանակցելու իրանական կողմի հետ և տեղակայվելու Իրանում՝ պատրաստ ենք այս ԱՏԳ-ում նրանց տրամադրել պայմաններ»,-  ասաց Կարեն Կարապետյանը:
