Դերասանուհի Մերի Հակոբյանի համար արվեստը լեզու, ազգություն, կրոն ու թշնամի չունի: Մերին երբեք չի թաքցրել, որ սիրում ու բարձր է գնահատում թուրքական մշակույթը եւ հատկապես ֆիլմարտադրությունը: Նա հետեւում է թուրքական սերիալներին եւ իր խոսքով` այս առումով իրեն քննադատողների հետ պատրաստ է բանավեճի դուրս գալ: Մերի Հակոբյանի նման տեսակետի մասին շատերը գիտեին, քանի որ նա հաճախ է իր Instagram-ի էջում թուրքական սիրելի սերիալներից տեսանյութեր հրապարակում: Պարզվում է` Մերին իր կարծիքով կիսվել է ոչ միայն իր հետեւորդների հետ, այլեւ պարբերաբար իր գովեստի խոսքն է գրել թուրքական հայտնի «Kara-Para Ask» ֆիլմարտադրող ընկերությանը, որն ավելի ուշ իր համար ճակատագրական է դարձել. Նա այս ընկերությունից հրավեր է ստացել` նկարահանվել թուրքական նոր սերիալում ու մարմնավորել հայուհու:
 
Այս մասին Մերի Հակոբյանն առաջինը պատմել է Life.panorama.am-ին: Նրա խոսքով` իրեն անսահաման երջանիկ է զգում, որ հնարավորություն ունի աշխատելու իր սիրելի ընկերության հետ:
 
«Իհարկե, ինձ համար շատ անսպասելի էր այս առաջարկը: Ես երբեւէ չէի կարող պատկերացնել, որ մի օր կնկարահանվեմ նման բարձրակարգ ընկերության ֆիլմում: Ամեն ինչ շատ պատահական ստացվեց: Երբ ես հերթական անգամ իմ սիրելի սերիալից հետո նրանց գրեցի, որ որպես դերասանուհի ուրախ եմ, որ կարողանում են բարձրակարգ սերիալներ նկարահանել ու կոտրել այն կարծիքը, որ սերիալը համարվում է ավելի ցածր աժեք ունեցող ժանր, նրանք ինձ գրեցին, որ շուտով նկարահանելու են մի ֆիլմ, որը պատմելու է Թուրքիայում ապրող հայ աղջկա մասին: Առաջարկեցին մասնակցել քասթինգին: Սա ինձ մոտ մի փոքր շփոթմունք առաջացրեց, բայց մտածեցի, իսկ ինչու ոչ: Ես ունեի տասը օր ժամանակ, պետք է մեկնեի Ստամբուլ, մասնակցեի քասթինգին, բայց ծնողներս այնքան էլ ուրախությամբ չվերաբերվեցին իմ նորությանը: Ինչեւէ, երկար ժամանակ չունեի, քրոջս միջոցով ստացա նաեւ ծնողներիս թույլտվությունն ու մեկնեցի»,- պատմեց Մերին ու շարունակեց.
