Հուշարձանների և տեսարժան վայրերի միջազգային խորհրդի (ԻԿՕՄՕՍ) առաջարկությամբ 1983 թվականից ՅՈՒՆԵՍԿՕ-ն ապրիլի 18-ը նշում է որպես հուշարձանների և տեսարժան վայրերի միջազգային օր: Այս օրը տարբեր երկրներում իրականացվող բազմաբնույթ միջոցառումները հնարավորություն են ընձեռում բարձրացնել հասարակության տեղեկացվածությունը համաշխարհային ժառանգության բազմազանության, դրա պահպանության ու պաշտպանության վերաբերյալ: Յուրաքանչյուր տարի ԻԿՕՄՕՍ-ն առաջադրում է օրվա խորհրդին առնչվող որևէ յուրահատուկ թեմա:
Ինչպես տեղեկացրին ՀՀ մշակույթի նախարարությունից, հուշարձանների և տեսարժան վայրերի միջազգային օրվան նվիրված միջոցառումներն այս տարի Հայաստանում կանցկացվեն «Հայաստանի մշակութային ժառանգությունը և կայուն զբոսաշրջությունը» խորագրի ներքո:
ՀՀ մշակույթի նախարարությունը, համագործակցելով ՀՀ տարբեր գերատեսչությունների և ոլորտի շահագրգիռ այլ կազմակերպությունների հետ, Հայաստանում և Արցախում կանցկացնի բազմաբնույթ միջոցառումներ: Միջոցառումների նպատակն է հնարավորություն ստեղծել հանրությանը մեկ անգամ ևս հաղորդակից դարձնելու մշակութային ժառանգությանը:
Մշակութային ժառանգությունը դիտարկելով որպես տնտեսական և սոցիալական կարևոր գործոն՝ արդյունքում ստեղծվում են տեղային զարգացման նոր մոդելներ, որոնք խթանում են մշակութային ժառանգության պահպանությանը, մշակութային զբոսաշրջության զարգացմանը:
