Հարկավոր է գոհ լինել, որ մենք ծնվել ենք հենց այս ժամանակաշրջանում, քանի որ ստիպված չենք սարսափել հսկայական արարածներից, որոնք ամեն վայրկյան կարող են վնաս տալ։ Ահա այն գիշատիչների մնացորդների լուսանկարները, որոնք երբևէ ամենասարսափազդուն են եղել Երկիր մոլորակի վրա։
1․ Ստենեոզավր բոլլենսիս
Սրա անվանումը թարգմանվում է որպես «նեղ մողես»։ Յուրայի ժամանակաշրջանում է գոյություն ունեցել։ Մարմինը եղել է բարակ և երկար, պոչը՝ չափազանց հզոր, առջևի թաթերը՝ փոքրիկ, ատամները՝ սուր, դունչը՝ երկար, ինչն էլ օգնել է նրան արագ լողալ։ Ստենեոզավրի լավ պահպանված մնացորդները գտնվել են Եվրոպայում և Մարոկկոյում։
2․ Ծովային հսկա ճիճուի մնացորդներ
Իսպանական Կաբաներոս ազգային պարկում գտնվել են 457 մլն տարիք ունեցող ծովային հսկա ճիճուների քարացած ոտնահետքեր։ Դրանք, ամենայն հավանականությամբ, բնակվել են ստորջրյա տարածություններում։ Մինչ այդ այս ճիճուների մնացորդներից հայտնաբերվել էին նաև Դևոնում (Անգլիա), սակայն վերջիններս ավելի երիտասարդ «տարիք» ունեին՝ մոտ 200 մլն տարեկան։
3․ Սյու՝ տիրանոզավր ռեքսի ամենախոշոր տեսակներից մեկը
Ամենալավ պահպանված և ամենախոշոր Տի-ռեքսի FMNH 2081 նմուշին տրվել է «Սյու» անվանումը։ Դրա երկարությունը 12,3 մ է, բարձրությունը՝ 4մ, իսկ միջին քաշը՝ 6,4 տոննա։ Սյուի մնացորդները հողերի մեջ էին գտնվում շուրջ 67 մլն տարի, մինչև որ հնէաբանները գտան դրանք։ Այժմ դրանք գտնվում են Չիկագոյի բնական գիտությունների թանգարանում։
4․ Դունկլեոստ
Գիտնականները Dunkleosteus terrelli-ն հաճախ անվանում են «կենդանիների առաջին արքա»։ Սա ծովային արարած է, որի անգամ գլուխն էր զրահով պատված։ Դունկլեոստը համարվում էր նախապատմական հզորագույն ձկներից մեկը։ Այն իր ատամներով մի վայրկյանում կարող էր երկու կես անել շնաձկանը։ Ապրել է 400 մլն տարի առաջ, և, ըստ էության, այս ձկնատեսակը հնում գերակշռել է ջրային էկոհամակարգում։
5․ Հազմոզավր
Հնէաբանները Կանադայում հայտնաբերել են ռնգեղջյուրանման դինոզավրի մնացորդներ, որը ձագ է եղել՝ 3 տարեկան։ Այդ տարիքում մարմնի երկարությունը 1,5 մ էր կազմում։ Զարմանալի է, սակայն անգամ ջրում խեղդվելուց հետո (դա է եղել նրա մահվան պատճառը) նրա մարմնի մնացորդները հրաշալիորեն պահպանվել են ջրային տիրույթում՝ միլիոնավոր տարիներ անց գտնվելով Ալբերտի համալսարանի գիտնականների կողմից։
