Հայոց ցեղասպանությունը 20-րդ դարի առաջին ցեղասպանությունն էր: Այն առանցքային պահ էր հետագայում նման ողբերգությունների կրկնության հարցում: Ինչպես հաղորդում է «Արմենպրես»-ը, ամերիկյան հեղինակավոր Charlie Rose թոք-շոուի ժամանակ այս մասին խոսել է Հայոց ցեղասպանության մասին պատմող հոլիվուդյան «Խոստումը» ֆիլմի ռեժ իսոր Թերի Ջորջը, ով իր կրծքին կրել է Ցեղասպանության 100-րդ տարելիցի խորհրդանիշ անմոռուկը:

Անդրադառնալով հարցին, թե երբ ու ինչու է տեղի ունեցել ցեղասպանությունը` նա պատմել է, որ Առաջին համաշխարհային պատերազմի ժամանակ Օսմանյան կայսրության ղեկավարությունը որոշում ընդունեց ոչնչացնել հայ բնակչությանը: «Օգտագործելով պատերազմը թուրքերի և ռուսների միջև որպես պատրվակ` նրանք հայտարարեցին, որ հայերը պետք է հեռացվեն պատերազմական գոտուց: Ողջ կայսրության տարածքից հայերը տարվեցին մահվան երթերի` սպանվելով գետերում, դաշտերում, ժայռերում, խորտակվեցին ծովերում: Սա 20-րդ դարի առաջին ցեղասպանությունն էր, առանցքային պահ ցեղասպանութ յունների իրականացման գործում: «Ցեղասպանություն» եզրույթն առաջացել է հենց այս իրադարձությունը բնութագրելու համար»,- պատմել է ռեժիսորը:

Խոսելով այն մասին, թե ինչու է Միացյալ Նահանգները հրաժարվում ճանաչել Հայոց ցեղասպանությունը` Թերի Ջորջը նշել է, որ Թուրքիան ռազմավարական մեծ ազդեցություն ունի ԱՄՆ վրա: Նա հիշեցրել է, թե ինչպես են նախկինում տապալվել Հայոց ցեղասպանության մասին հոլիվուդյան ֆիլմերի նկարահանումները: «Երբ փորձ արվեց նկարահանել «Մուսա լեռան 40 օրը» ֆիլմը, Թուրքիայի կառավարությունը ճնշումներ գործադրեց պետդեպարտամենտի և նկարահանման ստուդիաների վրա` տապալելով ֆիլմի նկարահանման փորձերը: Սա 20-րդ դարի ամենամեծ ու անհայտ ողբերգություններից է»,- ասել է Թերի Ջորջը:

Նա հիշեցրել է, թե ինչպես ԱՄՆ նախագահ Բարաք Օբաման նախքան ընտրվելը խոստացել էր ճանաչել Հայոց ցեղասպանությունը, սակայն ընտրվելուց հետո չպահեց խոստումը: «Այս հարցում նրա վերջին մեկնաբանությունն այն էր, թե «իմ տեսակետն այս հարցում չի փոխվել», սակայն չասեց «ցեղասպանություն» եզրույթը: Դեսպան Սամանտա Փաուերը ևս անկարող եղավ այդ բառն արտաբերել, թեպետ գրել է մի գիրք «Խնդիր դժոխքից» («A problem from Hell»), որտեղ շեշտադրել էր Հայոց ցեղասպանությունը` որպես այս իրադարձությունների նկատմամբ ԱՄՆ կառավարության վերաբերմունքի սկ զբնաքար»,- պատմել է ռեժիսորը` ընդգծելով, որ ներկայում Հայոց ցեղասպանության հարցում Թուրքիայի ղեկավարության և ԱՄՆ նոր նախագահ Դոնալդ Թրամփի վերաբերմունքի մեջ որևէ փոփոխություն չի տեսնում:

Թոք-շոուի մասնակից Անժելա Սարաֆյանը ներկայացրել է ֆիլմում մարմնավորած իր կերպարին` Մարալին, ով հայկական ավանդական գյուղի բնակիչ է: «Ես երջանիկ եմ կերտելու հայ ավանդական կնոջ կերպարը` ինքս հայ լինելով: Իմ մայրն ու տատը դրա հրաշալի օրինակներն էին: Այս ֆիլմն ու պատմությունը շատ անձնական էին ինձ համար, քանի որ ես լսել էի պատմություններ իմ նախնիներից, թե ինչպես են նրանք վերապրել կատարվածը»,- ասել է դերասանուհին:
