Մարդու իրավունքների պաշտպան Արման Թաթոյանի կողմից լրագրողներին 2016 թվականի հուլիսյան իրադարձությունների վերաբերյալ արտահերթ հրապարակային զեկույցը ներկայացնելու ժամանակ մի խումբ երիտասարդ ակտիվիստներ հուլիսյան իրադարձությունների հետ կապված թղթեր փակցրին ասուլիսի սրահում: «Արմենպրես»-ի հա ղորդմամբ` անդրադառնալով այդ քաղաքացիական գործողություններին Արման Թաթոյանը նշել է.
«Խորապես վստահ եմ, որ Մարդու իրավունքների պաշտպանի աշխատանքը ենթադրում է նաև քննադատություններ և անհամաձայնության նման դրսևորումներ: Բազմիցս նշել եմ Հայաստանում քաղաքացիական հասարակություն դերի բարձրացման անհրաժեշտությունը. նորմալ եմ համարում, որ ինքս էլ կարող եմ որոշ շրջանակների կողմից քննադատության ենթարկվել:
Մարդու իրավունքների պաշտպանը, անկախ ցանկացած հանգամանքից, գործել և շարունակելու է գործել բացառապես օրենքով իրեն վերապահված լիազորությունների շրջանակներում՝ տուրք չտալով այս կամ այն կողմի հնչեցրած դիրքորոշումներին: Ուղղախոսությունն ավելի թանկ է, քան պոպուլիզմը: Շնորհակալություն ասուլիսի բոլոր մասնակիցներին»:
