ԱՄՆ-ի կոնգրեսական Ադամ Շիֆը հայտարարել է. «Աշխարհում հայերի համար վտանգավոր ժամանակներ են: Ժամանակներ, երբ Սիրիայի կամ Իրաքի տարածքներում հայերը ոչնչացման վտանգի առջեւ են, ժամանակներ, երբ տասնյակ հազարավոր փախստականներ, սիրիահայ փախստականներ, ապաստան են գտել Հայաստանում:

Մենք չենք կարող աշխարհի բարոյական առաջնորդը մնալ, եթե տարանջատենք եւ տարբերակենք, թե որ ցեղասպանությունն է հարկավոր ճանաչել: Որպես աշխարհի բարոյական առաջնորդներ, մենք պարտավորված ենք պարզորոշ բարձրաձայնել Հայոց ցեղասպանության եւ ցանկացած այլ ցեղասպանության փաստը, անկախ նրանից, թե այն կատարվել է բարեկամի, թե թշնամու, հզոր թե թույլ իշխանության կողմից:

Մենք չենք կարող հետեւողական մնալ, եթե հայտարարենք, որ Դարֆուրի ցեղասպանությունը ճանաչելու ենք, որովհետեւ Սուդանը թույլ է, իսկ Հայոց ցեղասպանությունը չենք ճանաչելու, որովհետեւ Թուրքիան ուժեղ է: Եւ մենք տեսնում ենք, թե ինչպես է Թուրքիան դեպի ավտորիտար համակարգ սլանում, դեպի մի համակարգ, որը շատ նման է Պուտինի ստեղծած համակարգին: Եվ չկա որեւէ պատճառ, որեւէ բարոյական պատճառ, սակայն նաեւ չկա որեւէ ռազմավարական պատճառ, որպեսզի մենք Հայոց ցեղասպանության հարցում Թուրքիայի ջրաղացի վրա ջուր լցնենք: Ժամանակն է, որ Միացյալ Նահանգները բարձրաձայն, պարզորոշ, հստակ ու միանշանակորեն ճանաչի Հայոց ցեղասպանությունը»:
