Այսօր տարվա այն օրն է, որ շատ ամուր միավորում է աշխարհի հայերին: Այսօր այն օրն է, երբ մեզանից շատերը վերհիշում են իրենց մեծերի պատմած սարսափելի պատմությունները, թե ինչպես էին նրանք փորձում փրկվել մի սահմռկեցուցիչ իրավիճակից` խոշտանգումներ, սպանություններ, արյուն, սիրելի և հարազատ մարդկանց արյուն, և թե ինչպես էին մեր մեծերը, լինելով շատ երիտասարդ, փորձում փախչել վայրենի մարդասպաններից, ովքեր իրենց աչքի առջև մորթում էին իրենց ընտանիքների անդամներին…

20-րդ դարի սկզբում Օսմանյան կայսրության տարածքում տեղի ունեցած քրիստոնյաների սպանդը պարզ ցեղասպանություն էր, որը Երիտթուրքերի կառավարության ծրագրած և մշակած քաղաքականության իրականացումն էր: Դաժանաբար տանջանքների են ենթարկվել և սպանվել միլիոն ու կես հայեր… Պատմական ճշմարտության ը արդարացի գնահատական տալն անհրաժեշտ է ոչ միայն մեզ` նահատակների և վերապրածների ժառանգներիս, այլև բոլորի, անգամ նրանց, ովքեր կապ են ունեցել Ցեղասպանության իրականացման հետ:

Այլևս երբեք…

Անպատժելիությունը ծնում է նոր հանցագործություններ, և այսօր ավելին, քան երբևիցե անհրաժեշտ է միավորել մեր ուժերը` ցեղասպանությունների դեմ պայքարի հարցում: Այսօր Հայաստանը այս հարցում հանդես է գալիս, իբրև համախմբող և նախաձեռնող երկիր` Ցեղասպանության 100-ամյակից ի վեր մենք կազմակերպում ենք միջազգային գիտաժողովներ, որին մասնակցում են աշխարհահռչակ մասնագետներ` հարցի լուծման համար հնարավոր ճանապարհներ գտնելու և այս չարիքի դեմ միասնական պայքար մղելու համար:

Տարեց տարի ավելանում է Հայոց Ցեղասպանությունը ճանաչած և դատապարտած երկրների և միջազգային հեղինակավոր կազմակերպությունների թիվը: Հիշենք նաև, որ Ցեղասպանության հարյուրամյակի նախաշեմին, երբ Սուրբ աթոռում Հռոմի Ֆրանցիսկոս Պապի գլխավորությամբ մատուցվոծ պատարագին ոգեկոչում էին Հայոց ցեղասպանության զոհերի հիշատակը, Հռոմի Պապը նշեց, որ անցած դարում մարդկությունը վերապրել է երեք ողբերգություն, և առաջինը հենց Հայոց Ցեղասպանությունն էր:

Ցավոք, ներկայումս մենք ականատես ենք լինում բազմաթիվ վայրագությունների և բռնությունների ազգային կամ կրոնական հողի վրա: Իսլամական պետության կողմից շարունակական ահաբեկչությունները ժամանակին անցյալի փաստերի, այդ թվում և մեր Ցեղասպանության փաստի վրա աչք փակելու արդյունք են, և թող ես սխալվեմ, բայց կարծում եմ, որ ապագայում մենք դեռ ականատեսն ենք լինելու այլ ողբերգությունների: Ցեղասպանույունը պետք է ճանաչվի և քննադատվի նրա ժխտումը, սրան այլընտրանք չկա: Անցյալի սխալները հասկանալով և ընկալելով է հնարավոր ստեղծել այնպիսի ապագա, որտեղ տեղ չի լինի ահաբեկչությունների, բռնությունների, սպանդի և սարսափի համար:

ՑԵՂԱՍՊԱՆՈՒԹՅՈՒՆ… Սա մի երևույթ է, մի իրականություն, որի կանխարգելման համար անհրաժեշտ է բոլորիս միավորվելը: Իմ ընտանիքն ունի իր սեփական տխուր պատնությունը, և ես չէի ցանկանա, որ որևէ ազգի որևէ ներկայացուցիչ նույնպես ունենա նմանատիպ պատմություն:
