Հովհաննես Պողոս 2-րդի վրա մահափորձ կատարած թուրքն ուզում է հանդիպել Ֆրանցիսկոս պապի հետ

1981-ին Հռոմի պապ Հովհաննես Պողոս 2-րդի վրա կրակած թուրք Ալի Ագջան ցանկություն է հայտնել հանդիպել Վատիկանի ներկա առաջնորդ Ֆրանցիսկոսի հետ Կահիրեում, որտեղ առաջիկա օրերին պետք է ժամանի Հռոմի պապը , հայտնում է Gulf news-ը։
«Եթե Հռոմի պապ Ֆրանցիսկոսը համաձայնի հանդիպել, ապա ես դրա համար Եգիպտոսի մայրաքաղաք կգամ»,- հայտնել է Ալի Աղջան։
Վատիկանը այս հարցի շուրջ պաշտոնական մեկնաբանություններ դեռ չի տվել։
Թուրք ահաբեկիչ Մեհմետ Ալի Ագջան՝ «Գորշ գայլեր» ընդհատակյա կազմակերպությունից,1981-ի մայիսի 13-ին կրակել է Հռոմի պապ Հովհաննես Պողոս 2-րդի վրա։ Պապը ծանր վիրավորվել էր ու վիրահատվել։ Մահափորձից հետո Ալի Ագջան իտալական դատարանի կողմից ազատազրկման էր դատապարտվել, սակայն 2000-ին նրան ներում է շնորհվել ու նա արտահանձնվել է Թուրքիա։ 10 տարի հետո նա ազատ է արձակվել։
Հովհաննես Պողոս 2-րդը 1983-ին այցելել էր նրան բանտում։ 2009-ին Ագջան հայտարարել է, որ իսլամից անցնում է քրիստոնեության ու բազմիցս խոսել է կաթոլիկ հոգեւորական դառնալու իր մտադրության մասին։
