Պտղի սեռով պայմանավորված խտրականությունը 2017 թվականին, 2011-ի համեմատությամբ ,ավելի քան 40 տոկոսով նվազել է: «Արմենպրես»-ի հաղորդմամբ` երեխայի սեռի խտրական ընտրության դեմ պայքարի 2015-2017 թթ.փաստերի վրա հիմնված նախաձեռնությունների արդյունքների ամփոփմանն այս մասին ասաց Մարդկային զարգացման միջազգային կենտրոն հասարակական կազմակերպության գործադիր տնօրեն Արմեն Գալստյանը: «Երկու տարում անցած ճանապարհը չափվում է աղջիկ երեխաների կյանքերով։ Ես բարձր եմ գնահատում ՀՀ առողջապահության և աշխատանքի և սոցիալական հարցերի նախարարությունների, ինչպես նաև միջազգային ու հասարակական կազմակերպությունների գործուն աջակցությունը»,-ասաց նա:
ՀՀ առողջապահության նախարար Լևոն Ալթունյանի խոսքով` սեռերի անհամամասնության խնդիրը Հայաստանում ի հայտ է եկել դեռևս 1990-ական թվականներին։ 2008-2012 թթ. այն հասել էր վտանգավոր սահմանագծի և դարձել ժողովրդագրական լուրջ խնդիր: «2011 թ. յուրաքանչյուր 100 աղջկա հաշվով ծնվել է 114 տղա: Երրորդ և հաջորդ երեխաների դեպքում այդ ցուցանիշն ավելի բարձր էր (2008-2012 թթ. միջին ցուցանիշը կազմել է 164 տղա` 100 աղջկա դիմաց): Խնդիրը հատկապես արտահայտված էր առանձին մարզերում»,-ասաց նա։
Լևոն Ալթունյանն անդրադարձավ նաեւ ՀՀ առողջապահության նախարարության օրենսդրական նախաձեռնությանը, համաձայն որի 2016 թ. «Մարդու վերարտադրողական առողջության և վերարտադրողական իրավունքների մասին» ՀՀ օրենքում ամրագրվել է սեռով պայմանավորված հղիության ընդհատումների արգելքը։
Հայաստանում Միավորված ազգերի կազմակերպության բնակչության հիմնադրամի ղեկավար Գարիկ Հայրապետյանը փաստեց, որ պտղի սեռի խտրական ընտրության դեմ պայքարում Հայաստանն ամենաբարձր արդյունքներ ապահովող երկիրն է։
ՀՀ առողջապահության նախարար Լևոն Ալթունյանը նշեց, որ ծրագրերի շրջանակում իրականացված բազմաթիվ ազդեցիկ միջոցառումների արդյունքները թեև տպավորիչ են, սակայն աղջիկ երեխաների համար պայքարը դեռևս չի ավարտվել և պահանջում է ակտիվ քայլեր։
