Եվրոպական միությունը սկսել է Հունգարիային տուգանելու գործընթացը՝ բարձրագույն կրթության մասին նոր օրենքի հետ կապված։
«Մենք հունգարական կառավարությանը նամակ ենք հղել մանրակրկիտ ստուգում սկսելու մասին պաշտոնական ծանուցմամբ», - հայտարարել է Եվրահանձնաժողովի փոխնախագահ Վալդիս Դոմբրովսկիսը։ Նման ստուգումը բարդ գործընթացի առաջին փուլն է, որը կարող է մի քանի տարի տեւել։ Այս մասին գրում է DW-ն՝ վկայակոչելով Reuters-ին։
Դոմբրովսկիսի խոսքով՝ Բրյուսելի այս որոշումը հիմնվում է Հունգարիայում իրադրության նախնական իրավական գնահատականի վրա՝ կապված ԵՄ չափանիշների խախտման հետ, որը կարգավորում է գործնական ձեռնարկությունների հիմնվելու ու ծառայություններ մատուցելու ազատությունը։ Քննադատների կարծիքով՝ Հունգարիայում բուհերի մասին նոր օրենքը նպատակաուղղված է Կենտրոնական եվրոպական համալսարանի չեզոքացմանը, որը հիմնել է ամերիկացի մարդասեր Ջորջ Սորոսը։ Հունգարիայի կառավարության կարծիքով՝ այդ բուհը «քարոզում է շատ բաց ու լիբերալ հասարակություն»։
Համապատասխան նոր օրենքների՝ օտարերկրյա համալսարանները, բացի Հունգարիայի մասնաճյուղից, պետք է ունենան բաժին իրենց երկրում։ Այսպիսով, վերոնշյալ համալսարանն ապօրինի է, քանի որ դրա միակ բաժինը գտնվում է Հունգարիայի մայրաքաղաք Բուդապեշտում։
