ԱՄՆ-ի նախագահ Դոնալդ Թրամփը հայտարարել Է, թե ցանկանում Է, որ Հարավային Կորեան մեկ միլիարդ դոլար վճարի THAAD հակահրթիռային պաշտպանության համակարգի համար: Նա նաեւ նշել Է, որ նաեւ ցանկանում Է վերանայել կամ ազատվել Սեուլի հետ «սարսափելի» առեւտրական համաձայնագրից, տեղեկացնում Է «Արմենպրես»-ը՝ հղում անելով ՌԻԱ Նովոստիին:
Մինչդեռ, ինչպես նշում Է ՏԱՍՍ-ը, Կորեայի Հանրապետության ազգային պաշտպանության նախարարությունը հայտարարել Է, որ հենց ԱՄՆ-ը պետք Է հոգա THAAD հակահրթիռային համակարգի ծախսերը: Հարավային Կորեան չի փոխել իր «հիմնական դիրքորոշումը». երկրի կառավարությունը միայն տարածք Է տրամադրում ԱՄՆ-ին համակարգի տեղակայման համար, իսկ ԱՄՆ-ը պաստախանատվություն Է կրում տեղակայման ու կառավարման համար, ասված Է գերատեսչության հայտարարության մեջ:
Ավելի վաղ ԱՄՆ-ի Խաղաղօվկիանսյան հրամանատարության հրամանատար ծովակալ Հարի Հարիսը հայտարարել Է, որ Հարավային Կորեայում ամերիկյան THAAD հակահրիռային պաշտպանության համակարգը կտեղակայվի մոտ օրերս:
Բալիստիկ հրթիռների կալանման ամերիկյան նորագույն THAAD համակարգի սարքավորումն ապրիլի 26-ի առավոտյան Հարավային Կորեայում հասցրել են համակարգի տեղակայման վայր, ինչի մասին ավելի վաղ հայտնել Է Ռյոնհապ գործակալությունը: Սպասվում Է, որ մայիսին համակարգի տեղակայումը պետք Է ավարտված լինի:
