Նացիստներ, ովքեր վտանգի տակ դրեցին իրենց սեփական կյանքը՝ հարյուրհազարավոր այլ կյանքեր փրկելու համար

Մինչ Երկրորդ համաշխարհայինի սկսվելը Նացիստական կուսակցությունը Չինաստան էր ուղարկել գործարարների, դիվանագետների ու ռազմական գործիչների։ Նացիստական կուսակցության պատվիրակները հորդորում էին չինացի ռազմական գործիչներին միանալ գերմանական բանակին ու ամբողջ երկրով մեկ Հիտլերյան երիտասարդական ճամբարներ հիմնել։
1937-ին դեպքերը, սակայն, այլ ընթացք ստացան։ Այդ տարի ճապոնացիները ներխուժեցին Չինաստան՝ կոտորելով ու ոչնչացնելով ամենքին ու ամեն ինչ, որ հանդիպում էր ճանապարհին։ Գերմանացիները, հաշվի առնելով Ճապոնիայի հետ իրենց նոր միությունը, իրենց մարդկանց հրահանգեցին վերադառնալ Գերմանիա, բայց նացիստներից ոմանք հրաժարվեցին իրենց չինացի մարդկանց վտանգի մեջ թողնել։ Նրանք, հատկապես նրանցից երկուսը, մնացին Չինաստանում՝ թափահարելով նացիստների դրոշներն ու կրծքանշանները՝ ի նշան պաշտպանության, ու վտանգելով իրենց կյանքերը՝ հարյուրհազարավոր այլ կյանքեր փրկելու համար։
Նացիստ գեներալ Ալեքսանդր ֆոն Ֆալքենհաուզենը ճապոնական ներխուժումից հետո իր սպաների հետ մնաց Չինաստանում ու աջակցեց չինական բանակին։ Նա ռազմական խորհուրդներ էր տալիս չին առաջնորդ Չիանգ Կաի-շեկին, մինչ իր սպաներն օգնում էին չին զինվորներին։
Չինական բանակի հպարտությունը հանդիսացող 88-րդ դիվիզիան կազմված էր հենց գերմանացիների կողմից վարժեցված զինվորներից։ Պատերազմի ամենադժվար մարտերը չինացիները մղեցին նացիստական զենքերով։
Վերջիվերջո, Նացիստական կուսակցությանը հաջողվեց Ֆալքենհաուզին Գերմանիա բերել՝ սպառնալով, որ կձերբակալի վերջինիս ընտանիքին անհավատարմության համար։ Ֆալքենհաուզենն այլ ելք չուներ, բայց մինչև տուն վերադառնալը նա Չիանգ Կաի-շեկի հետ ճապոնացիների դեմ մի քանի ամսվա օպերացիաների ծրագրեր գծեց։
Ֆալքենհաուզենի մեկնելուց հետո չինացիների կողքին մեկ այլ գերմանացի կար՝ Ջոն Ռաբեն, ով նացիստական կուսակցությանը հարող գերմանացի գործարար էր։
Ռաբեն այնտեղ էր, երբ սկսվեցին Նանկինգի կոտորածները։ Նրա աչքի առաջ ճապոնացի զինվորներն սկսեցին հարյուրհազարավոր անմեղ մարդկանց սպանդը՝ մասնատելով նրանց մարմինները, բռնաբարելով առնվազն 20.000 կնոջ ու մրցելով՝ ով կսպանի ավելի շատ։
Օտարերկրյա այլ գաղթականների օգնությամբ Ռաբեին հաջողվեց հիմնել Նանկինգի անվտանգության զոնան, որտեղ ճապոնացիների մուտքն արգելված էր, և որտեղ Չինաստանի բոլոր քաղաքացիների համար տեղ կար։
Ռաբեին հաջողվեց Չինաստանի 250.000 քաղաքացու կյանք փրկել։ Նա շրջում էր փողոցներով՝ փորձելով մարդկանց պաշտպանել հարձակվողներից ու ցույց տալով իր կրծքանշանը՝ որպես պաշտպանություն։
Որոշ ժամանակ անց Ռաբեն վերադարձավ Գերմանիա՝ Նանկինգի կոտորածների նկարներն ու հոլովակները Հիտլերին ցույց տալու ու նրան չինացիներին միանալ համոզելու համառ մտադրությամբ։ Հիտլերը, սակայն, ճապոնացիների բարբարոսությունները որակեց նրանց ուժի դրսևորում ու մնաց ճապոնացիների հետ, և կարճ ժամանակ անց Եվրոպայում պատերազմ սկսվեց, որը նացիստներին աշխարհում ամենաանարգվածը դարձրեց։
