Գիտնականների խոսքով՝ հակաբիոտիկները կաթի մեջ են հայտնվում կովերի օրգանիզմից, որոնք տարբեր հիվանդությունների կանխարգելման կամ բուժման համար դեղամիջոցներ են ստանում: Արդյունքում՝ կաթի մշակման ընթացքում նյութերը փոփոխվում են, սակայն նախկինի նման ակտիվ են մնում եւ կարող են ազդել մարդու օրգանիզմի վրա:
